# [[Audience engagement levels]]
In [[Marketing]], a brand's audience can be defined according to the level of engagement with your brand. [^flynn]
- *Casual Audience*: They have heard of you and might have consumed your content because it was useful, but they don't have a connection to you.
- *Active Audience*: They know who you are, and when you come up with something new, they decide whether or not to engage.
- *Connected Community*: They engage with you most of the time, and may talk about you sometimes.
- *Superfans*: They are so enthusiastic about you that they have put significant chunks of their own energy into spreading the news about you.
Your goal is to move people up, but *also to maintain superfans*, because you don't want to lose that highly passionate crowd.
People on different levels are interested in different types of content, and making sure there's something for everybody will encourage customers from all levels to upgrade their engagement with your brand.
