# [[Burnout]]
Burnout is the physical, psychological, and mental exhaustion resulting from chronic stress. While there isn't a clinical diagnosis of burnout, it is characterized by one or more of the following:
- a growing feeling of overwhelm, sometimes to the extent that you're left unable to do anything in the face of so much work
- physical fatigue, including not sleeping or eating well
- inability to react to new stimuli with joy or excitement
- a lack of motivation to do things you enjoyed before
