# [[Carl Jung]]

Carl Jung was a Swiss [[Psychoanalysis|psychoanalyst]] famous for his work on the subconscious.
He was seen by [[Sigmund Freud]] as Freud's "intellectual heir", but Jung's psychology notably departs from Freud's when it comes to the sexual basis of neurosis. While Jung believed that sexuality was at the heart of the psyche, Jung believed there was more nuance to humans than sexuality.
[[Alfred Adler]] was a contemporary of Jung's who also hung out in Freud's circles initially but broke off for other reasons.
