# [[Composability]]
Composability is the characteristic of a [[Systems thinking|system]] of being deconstructable into parts that function independently of each other but can still work well as a whole.
## Applications
In [[Tech]], a composable system is one that is made up of best-in-class parts that integrate well with each other. A compsable service or app, then, is one that is designed to be modular: it can be added to any or most technological stacks. [[Microservices|Microservices-based]] architectures often consist of composable services.
In [[Mathematics]], [[Factorization]] is the process of decomposing a product into other products. In a sense, prime factors are composable units.
In [[Personal Knowledge Management|PKM]], [[Composable notes]] are notes that are [[Principle of Atomicity|atomic]] and [[Respect Levels of Abstraction|abstracted]] enough to be discrete theories, but when applied to a field, can also lead to interesting implications.
