It had 60,995 inhabitants in 2019 and is the second most populous municipality in [[The Algarve]] after [[Loulé]]. [^wiki] We went there briefly, but only went to the city center, which was sort of an outdoor shopping centre that had some overpriced food and a viewpoint of the surrounding area.
