## Elements of a good working culture - Good [[Communication]] and [[Overcommunication]] - [[Remote Work]] - [[Asynchronicity|Asynchronous]] - An anti-overtime attitude - Gumroad has an "anti-overtime rate" where people earn *less* the more they work. [^gumroad] ## Intentional, high-touch culture The prevalent understanding and practice among modern companies is what I call high-touch culture, in which employees recreate some of the niceties of being co-located, such as watercooler talk and mid-afternoon coffees. They do this by scheduling social gatherings, so as to be intentional about the time spent on them while still providing a limited interaction with the rest of the team. In a high-touch culture, a communal identity is purposely created and maintained, so that membership in the team becomes an integral part of each employee's life. ## [[Minimum Viable Culture]] [[Gumroad]] takes a different tack to most, in that they intentionally want to create the least amount of culture necessary to keep a team working productively together.
