# Lean writing Lean [[Writing|writing]] is an application of the [[Lean]] methodology to creating written content. It advocates for an iterative approach to writing that begins with [[Principle of Atomicity|atomic]] building blocks and then [[Continuous Improvement|improves on them continuously]]. The lean writing tree, starting at the top - Atomic essay - Twitter thread - Long-form article - Free email course - Digital product - Online course/community - Business Lean writing was coined (as far as I know) by [[Ship 30 for 30]]. A feature of lean _writing_ in particular is that every stage of the process is meant to assess the demand for a particular bit of work. Not every piece of work is expected to proceed to the bottom.
