# Niz Plum Atom 68
The Niz Plum Atom 68 keyboard is technically not a mechanical keyboard; it's an electro-capacitive keyboard that doesn't rely on a key being pressed all the way down. Instead, a coil underneath the key is pressed until it makes contact with an electric switch.
Despite not being a mechanical keyboard, it is popular among mechanical keyboard enthusiasts because of its unique design and its price. It is a clone of the more expensive Topre switches.

## Issues
### Windows layout by defaults
It's primarily designed for Windows, so in addition to having to change certain keycaps (which is not a big deal), I had to remap some of the keys. Remapping was a pain because as far as I can see, they only have an application for Windows, not macOS.
To remap keys to macOS, I had to press FN + P, and then hold FN + left CMD for five seconds to switch it to the Mac layout. However, the first time I did this, only the CMD key was mapped (the Option key was not).
To remap other keys, I used [[Karabiner Elements]], but that is also specific to the laptop.
