# [[PARA Method]]
[site](https://fortelabs.com/blog/para/)
The PARA method is a [[PKM Methodologies|PKM methodology]] created by [[Tiago Forte]] that revolves around putting things into four buckets:
- Projects
- Areas
- Resources
- Archives
Each bucket is structured as a folder, with connected notes that span across the buckets. For example, in *Area*, you might have a note for `Writing`, but a related note in *Project* might be a specific blog post.
## Criticisms of PARA method
### [[Folders are an antiquated organizational structure]].
The PARA method revolves around folders or "notebooks", which is the terminology in [[Evernote]], the tool that Tiago Forte uses. However, folders have a very big limitation: a note can only go into one folder. This limitation means that a note cannot simultaneously be a Project and also a Resource for other Projects, for example.
### PARA is for organizing ideas, not acting on them
PARA focuses on the organization of digital files and is not a [[Personal Knowledge Management|PKM]] method on its own. It is more concerned with how to *store* ideas than how to learn them, connect them to other ideas, or make new work with them.
