A Session Zero is the very first game of a [[Tabletop Roleplaying Games|tabletop RPG]], often considered a prelude to the story. The objective of this session is to establish boundaries for play, to learn the basics of the game, and to give everyone a chance to express what kind of game they'd like to play.
## Rules
- Setting: medieval fantasy
- This is a roleplaying game: that means that for most of the game, you'll be acting as your character, not yourself.
- Other people will be acting as their characters too, so they might do or say things that THEY, the players, never would.
- However, if at any point anyone is uncomfortable with the direction the game is going, whether that's the story or a character's action or speech, speak out. The reality is that we as players can never be fully removed from the game, and that's ok.
## Boundaries for play
- What kind of game do you want to play? Run? [^1]
- Flavor: funny, horror?
- How strict will DM be with rules? Homebrew rules? Banned combos?
- Exposition: scenario, maps, handouts, overview of important information everyone would know
