# [[Trends in publishing content]]
The way we publish and distribute content we've created is changing. Here are some trends that we should be aware of.
## Topical, not chronological
The traditional view of publishing is that work is posted once and finalized. The current model of blog posts that are arranged chronologically in a news-like feed supports this traditional view.
Modern publishing involves concepts like [[Library vs feed|making blogs a library not a feed]] and [[Digital Garden|digital gardening]], which encourage the creation of living, breathing written works that are expected to be in a constant state of progress.
## [[Coding and writing are converging|Convergence of coding and writing]]
In the same way that [[Shift-left testing|testing is shifting left]] to the point that [[Test as code|Tests are kept as code]], writing is also shifting left and being treated more and more like code:
- They are both [[Version Control System|versioned]] with something like [[Git]]
- They're [[Continuous note-taking|continuously]] and iteratively created
- They require [[Continuous Improvement|CI/CD]] processes to lint and deploy
- They are queryable
- They are [[Composable notes|composable]] and [[Principle of Atomicity|atomic]]
## [[Learning in public]]
To keep up with faster-paced developments in technology and to rebel against [[Coercive marketing]], people are increasingly sharing and enjoying content that is [[The basis of anti-marketing is authenticity|authentic]] and unpolished, to the point that the content is almost about showing people what the process of creating content is like.
