Graph view is a [[Core plugins|core plugin]] that visualizes your notes and the links between them. It is enabled by default. ![[graph-view.png]] The graph view shows all of the notes in your current vault as circles (the bigger the circle, the more often other notes link to that note). The links between the notes are visualized with lines, with arrows expressing the direction of the links. You can click on each circle to view the note it represents, and you can zoom in and out using a scroll wheel on your mouse or gestures on your trackpad as needed. By default, all links are shown, even those to nonexistent notes. This feature can be handy for seeing what *isn't* in your vault and maybe should be. ## Customizing graph view You can change a lot about what the graph view looks like. ### Filters In the Filters section, you can have the graph view show only results of a [[Search]]. You can also enable the following elements: - [[Tags]] - Attachments (such as images and other media) - Existing files only (when this is enabled, links to nonexistent notes are not displayed) - Orphans (notes that are not linked to anything) ### Groups In this section, you can add groups based on certain criteria (such as `path:daily` or `tag: #people`) and change their color in the graph. ### Display In the Display section, you can change: - whether arrows are displayed or just lines to represent links - at what point when zooming out the text labels with the filenames disappear - how big each circle (node) is - how thick the lines are that connect nodes You can also click *Animate* to get a cool little animation of how your graph has evolved over time. ### Forces In the forces section, you can control how the the nodes interact with each other: - Increasing **Center force** decreases the distance of nodes from the center (think of it as gravity) - Increasing **Repel force** adds more spacing between nodes - Increasing **Link force** increases the distance between two linked nodes - Increasing **Link distance** increases the length of the lines connecting nodes
