Note composer is a [[Core plugins|core plugin]] that helps you with restructuring notes in your vault. It's enabled by default. You can access the note composer from the [[Command palette]]. ## Merging files Open a note (say, Note A). From the [[Command palette]], select `Note composer: Merge current file with another file`. Select the other note (say, Note B) and hit enter. If a dialog box pops up, confirm the merge by clicking *Merge*. After the merge, Note A is deleted and its contents are added to Note B. ## Extract this heading Move your cursor to a [[obsidian-playbook/Using Obsidian/02 Making Notes in Obsidian/Markdown#Headings|heading]] in a note by using the arrow keys or by clicking on the line. Open up the [[Command palette]] and select `Note composer: Extract this heading...` Hit ENTER. Type the name of the new note, or leave it as the heading. Hit ENTER. The section beginning with the header you selected is removed from Note A, copied into a new Note B, and a link to Note B is added to where the section used to be in Note A.
