Starred is a [[Core plugins|core plugin]] that gives you a way to access notes or saved searches quickly. It is enabled by default. ## Starring items Expand [[The Obsidian UI and settings#Left sidebar|the left sidebar]] and click on the star icon. Click the large star icon to star the current note. Click the list icon with a smaller star to star the current [[Search]]. You can also star a note by opening the [[Command palette]] and selecting `Starred: Star/unstar current file`. ## Pinning Starring a file or a search lets you click on it later within the Starred pane, but what if you want to keep a note open in the Editor? *Pinning* a note makes sure you don't accidentally open another note instead of it. You'll still be able to close the note, but opening other notes from it via [[Quick Switcher]] or clicking a link in that note causes the new note to be opened in another tab. Pinned notes are useful for notes you want to remain open, such as reference notes. To pin a note, open it and then do one of the following: - right click on the tab and click Pin - click on the three vertical dots on the right and click Pin - from the [[Command palette]], select `Toggle pin`
