Comments are text that are not shown in [[Views in Obsidian#Reading view|Reading view]] or when notes are rendered (such as when they are published). Comments are invisible in these situations. ## Using comments You can create multi-line or single-line comments by enclosing text within `%% %%` (percentage symbols): ![[obsidian-playbook/Using Obsidian/02 Making Notes in Obsidian/Markdown#Add a comment]] ## Uses for comments You might use comments in these situations: - to add links to a note that you don't necessarily want to add to the body of a note, since links still work within comments %% [[YAML Frontmatter]] %% - to leave reminders for yourself %% TODO: Add an example here%% - to add comments in [[Slides]] that you don't want to be displayed %% See [[Best practices]] for an example %% - (advanced) to define more parameters for [[Community plugins]] like [[Dataview plugin]]. %% I am invisible TODO: Study this: [[obsidian-playbook/Using Obsidian/02 Making Notes in Obsidian/Markdown]] %% > [!warning] Comments are not private > If you're using [[Obsidian Publish]], comments aren't displayed, but they can still be found in the source code of your site for those who know where to look. Don't put anything in comments that is private. ## Related - [Obsidian docs on comments](https://help.obsidian.md/How+to/Format+your+notes#Comments)
