## Map of Content
~ [[Home]]
> [!NOTE]- Instructions
> This note is starting out as a basic map of content where you gather and "collect" relevant information, ideas, thoughts, and links.
>
> **Note Paradigm # 3**: _Notes can change!_
>
> This is not a static index note. This is an active "mapping" note. Maps of content are spaces to both catalyze and synthesize your thoughts, in a natural and organic way.
>
> Your assignment is to continually update this note throughout the workshop. You will be adding new ideas, relating these ideas, and generally consolidating the knowledge within to gain a deeper understanding of the topics that matter to you.

[[Notemaking]]: An active, engaged form of using notes to generate one’s own thoughts through a mix of relating ideas, making connections, asking questions, and writing answers to prompts. It is writing on steroids. But really, it is a thinking practice disguised as a writing practice.
- Apparently, note-makers are people who spend their thinking time in an active, engaged way—making sense of the stuff they encounter.
- [[Note-making is about making insights in minutes that last a lifetime]]
- [[Note-making preserves a fleeting thought]]
[[Notetaking]]: A passive form of using notes that involves copying, clipping, and collecting without generating any personal thoughts. More closely resembles stenography, than writing or thinking.
- How can I still do this but drastically reduce how much I do?
[[Idea Emergence]]: It’s the process of how ideas grow in richness, complexity, and meaning over time. It helps illuminate the odd, counterintuitive mechanisms behind how ideas survive, spread, and evolve. There is more than a hint of the Darwinian “struggle for existence” here.
Not only does Idea Emergence give us a framework to understand how ideas interact and emerge into more than the sum of their parts—we can leverage this framework to reliably make the most of our minds and generate our proudest and meaningful work.
- One of the biggest concepts of LYT. How ideas grow. The invisible rules governing ideas.
- [[Mental Squeeze Point]]: These are what MOC's help us overcome
- [[MOCs (defn)|MOCs]]: "Maps of Content".
- Spaces to _gather, develop, & navigate ideas_.
- How are MOCs similar/different to "indexes"?
- They are active notes where you can do the majority of your sensemaking efforts.
## Frameworks
- ACE: A unified way to organize knowledge with folders and links.
- [[ARC]]: A framework to show the flow of your ideas across time and space.
[[Ideaverse]]: Technically, an ideaverse is a person’s linked digital notes. We might say it’s all your notes, connected. While that sounds boring, it is actually the opposite. It is an organic, evolving mass of thoughts a person interfaces with throughout their life. It is a mechanism for sensemaking.
Not only is it a tool to improve learning, comprension, and memory; but it compels, catalyzes, and draws out both new and mature thoughts from the person interacting with it—leading to some of their best, greatest, proudest, and most meaningful work.
- Your notes, connected. More broadly, the total of one's mental landscape.
