### Capture
#### Eureka moments
When you just get an idea.
Write it down! Use bullet points to remind yourself what you want to talk about.
#### Birdsong techniques
- Using the content that you're consuming to inform the content that you create
- Get inspiration from things that interest you enough to watch/read/listen to
Consumption > Integration > Second brain
(For Ali, this includes Readwise > Notion)
Plagiarism vs being original?
- [[Steal like an artist]]
#### Coal mining
Spot interesting coal mines in your niche: sources of ideas in your content, or other creators that you'd like to emulate.
Maintain a list of creators you respect in your niche and browse their content for ideas.
However, be sure that you're not just creating a derivative of a derivative of a derivative. Go back to the original source when you can!
### Generate
#### 5 months of content in 5 minutes
Create two lists:
List 1: 5-10 topics your audience wants to learn
List 2: 5-10 topics YOU want to teach
Dive into ones that catch your attention, especially ones in both lists, and see what about that topic you could make a video on (more specific).
Repeat for all steps!
#### Ask the audience
If you already have viewers or followers, ask them on different platforms which videos they'd like you to make.
If you don't have an audience yet, ask your friends and family.
Ask them:
- What they want to hear form you
- what things they would ask you for your advice on
- what you're an expert at.
#### Ethical Analytica
Look for videos that are disproportionately doing well.
Normal performance: 20% of the subscribers will watch your video.
If a video does better than that baseline, then analyze it to see why. Then, remix it and use it for yourself.
Sources:
- YouTube Studio analytics
- Your own videos. Which ones did well? Which ones could you update or expound on?
- YouTube search and suggestions
- Search for something and see what's doing well
- Use autocomplete feature on YouTube and see what's being searched for
- TubeBuddy and VidIQ
- TubeBuddy is the one that he recommends
