# [[Could Agile Testers Help Debug Management]]
speaker:: [[John Buck]]
conference:: [[Agile Testing Days 2023]]
September 9, 1947: [[Grace Hopper]] was testing a Mark I computer and found the first documented bug. She was a US Navy Rear Admiral. She invented [[COBOL]].
> If you ever say "it can't be done", my ghost will sit on your shoulder. - *Grace Hopper*
[[Sociocracy]]: rule by people who have a social relationship
[[Democracy]]: rule by masses (demos)
[[Autocracy]]: rule by one person
Most corporations are autocratic-- look at their organizational structure.
- No feedback loops
[[Agile]] applies not just to software. You can apply it to systems.
How would we put in feedback loops to a traditional corporate structure?
- Manager and staff make decisions by consent: they do a [[Retrospective]].
- Consent != consensus
- Add circles (*kring*) between CEO to managers, board to CEO as well.
Circle Meetings are feedback ("testing") loops or retrospectives.
## Debugging experiment
- Identify what aspect of the company to test.
- Hold a meeting to establish consent.
- Analyze requirements: Define criteria
- Develop a test plan
- Create a system for monitoring the first two steps.
- Execute testing
- Use monitoring to identify and troubleshoot issues
- Provide feedback based on results
- Retrospective
- Suggest corrective measures
- Publish/report
(This is kind of like [[Quality Coaching]].)
