Grafana 11.3 TL;DR ### Hook Grafana 11.3 is out, and here's what you need to know: we've got - a new Explore Logs app that lets you visualize your logs with Loki without using LogQL - Scenes-powered dashboards to give you an easier and more flexible way to create dashboards, - experimental Actions to trigger HTTP requests from dashboard elements and we've made some nice improvements to alerting, the plugin ecosystem, and overall administration of your Grafana instances. Let's dive right in! Explore Logs - Why - patterns + pre-built dashboards - You can drill down by service and spot problems faster. - GA: for Grafana Cloud, Enterprise, AND OSS versions. - Versions - For more information, I did a Community Call with my colleagues Jay Clifford and Trevor Whitney all about that. ### Structure - Explore Logs - *Availability*: GA - *Installation*: automatically installed in Grafana Cloud, OSS, and Enterprise instances - Check out the Loki Community Call where we talk all about it - Dashboard and visualization improvements - Scenes-powered dashboards %%[[Thanos Karachalios]]%% including these four features - *Availability*: GA - *Installation*: All by default - View mode + edit mode (go into edit mode when building, view for less cluttered usage) - Template variables and time range picker (these will stick to the top as you scroll through dashboard) - Timezone parameter in Grafana URL (you can share dashboards with a timezone selected) - Kiosk mode displays dashboard controls while playing a playlist or viewing dashboard in full screen - Actions - *Availability*: Experimental - *Installation*: Enable the `vizActions` feature toggle - Make an HTTP request-- meaning you can open a GitHub issue or call any API - For these visualizations: Canvas, bar chart, candlestick, heatmap, state timeline, status history, time series, trend, XY chart - `vizActions` feature toggle - Others - *Availability*: GA - *Installation*: All - Auto-formatted table cell values in Cell Inspect - Plain text and code editor tabs when inspecting table visualizations - Legends in bar gauge visualizations - Apply binary transformations to all numbers in a table at once - Alerting %%[[Ryan Kehoe]]%% - All the data in the world won't do you any good if you don't have an automated way to detect when something goes wrong. That's where alerting comes in. - We want to make alerting easy to set up so you don't have to be an expert in Prometheus to make/respond to an alert, and so that you have all the info you need to see what's happening. - Simplified query section for alert rule creation - but switch to advanced options for more complex rules - *Availability*: GA - *Installation*: - Will roll out to Grafana Cloud over the next few weeks - Enterprise and OSS: enable `alertingQueryAndExpressionsStepMode` feature toggle - In the future - Consolidation of Grafana Managed Alerts and Datasource Alerts to a single alert type to avoid confusion. - Automation of evaluation groups so all you need to do is to set a polling period for the alert rule. - Stronger integration with other Grafana Labs projects. - Plugins %%[[David Harris]]%% - Data sources - GitHub data source: Authenticate via GitHub App vs. PATs - better security and finer grained permissions - *Availability*: GA - *Installation*: All - Plugin details page redesign for managing plugins better (adding when plugins were last updated).
