What's in my tech EDC bag? 2022 ## Hook Maybe I'm just nosy, but I love these EDC videos and couldn't resist making one myself. I'm Nicole van der Hoeven, and on this channel I usually talk about digital tools for productivity, like Obsidian. In this video, I'm going to show you some of the physical everyday tools I use on a regular basis. ## Structure In my mind, there's no better form factor for an EDC bag-- you know, a bag of stuff that you actually carry EVERY day, not just work days or travel days -- than a sling. I've certainly flirted with other slings in the past, but my current beau is the ==Black Ember TKS==. This has gotten some pretty bad reviews online, but I took a chance on it and I'm glad I did. Black Ember always uses these thick materials that are just so satisfying to touch. By the way, this is the ==Nitecore Tini 2 flashlight==. It's a surprisingly powerful light that can be charged via USB C. The magnetic lock is so chunky and premium, the zipper pulls go through each other for security, and this front pocket has a cable pass-through for charging your phone. On the inside, it has a mesh compartment on one side and this accordion-like section in the other that reminds me of the Peak Design Tech Kit. And in fact, the TKS in the name stands for Tech Kit Sling. These pockets are perfect for holding techie bits and bobs and a battery charger at the back, but when you unbuckle the strap and tuck each end inside the back here, it has the same profile of a tech kit that can go into a work or travel backpack. I've made no secret of my love for tabletop RPGs like D&D. This is one of the ==Nott the Brave== two-pack of masks. If you know, you know. With all the tech I carry, not to mention my glasses, I use this ==Mighty Hanks== microfiber cloth to wipe off the smudges. This is the Geological Survey Mighty Mini version. I also have an ==Orbitkey Leather Key Organizer== to keep my keys contained, the ==iWalk portable charger== for a quick power top-up of my phone while on the go, and a ==Nanobag== for groceries that compresses down really small. On this side, I keep my wallet-- this is a ==Secrid Mini wallet==, made in my current home country of the Netherlands and a fantastic minimalist wallet. In this ==Topo Designs small pouch==, I keep a ==Tile Mate== bluetooth tracker and my ==Trezor Model T== hardware cryptocurrency wallet that doubles as my security key. This ==Kable Card== has got to be one of my favourite finds from Kickstarter. It is so thin and low-profile, but it has everything I could possibly need in a tech emergency-- a USB C cable, adapters that convert it to micro USB, USB A, and lightning in case I need to charge devices that haven't yet fallen in line with modern standards. There's a sim ejector tool, a place for SIM cards, a place for memory cards... and btw there's also a light right there! I also have my ==Burt's Bees Lip Balm==, and some other bandages and some pills, because I have a husband who has a tendency to hurt himself. And on this back compartment here, I have the ==Anker PowerCore III portable charger==, because I'm paranoid about running out of power. I usually run a cable through this little hole and into my current mobile phone of choice, the ==Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3==. It's part phone, part tablet, and it's allowed me to leave my tablet and various ebook readers behind on short trips. The screen is gorgeous, it basically comes with its own kickstand, and it's been so useful that I don't think I'll ever have a non-folding phone as my main mobile ever again. ## Outro So that's my EDC bag for 2022. This is what I grab when I'm heading out of the house on a quick errand. Everything I've mentioned I've used for at least several months, and they're all linked in the description below.
