Instead, think of it as "priority management". After all, it's not a matter of rearranging time. It's a matter of being clear about what you want to do at any point in time. I work full-time as a Developer Advocate, part-time as a content creator, and I also have some hobbies that take up a lot of time: last year I played 134 TTRPG sessions of about 3 hours each, read 50 books, and travelled to eight countries. Oh, and I bought an apartment and moved to another country. So, like most people, I've got a lot of stuff going on. In this video, I'm going to show you how I keep track of all that and the exact process I use to get stuff done-- not because I think you, or anyone, should copy what I'm doing, but to give you ideas of what might work for you. ### Structure https://github.com/kepano/obsidian-minimal - This is not the best way; this is just the way that has emerged over time for me. It's a hodge-podge of lots of methodologies I've read about, but also just things that have worked for me. - Future, Present, Past - Future - Setting goals or objectives (OKRs) - Time levels - Requirements tracing between levels - Present - Daily notes are the source of truth and cornerstone of everything - bullet journal approach using Minimal - raw - not processed yet/no processing needed - [ ] tasks not started yet - [/] incomplete, but in progress tasks - [x] completed tasks - [-] cancelled tasks - [>] processed - [<] scheduled - At the end of the day, some things are migrated: - Goals and Review system (OKRs) - yearly, quarterly (for work), weekly, daily - see previous video on setting goals - GTD-like next actions, someday/maybe, waiting for lists - Checklist - Projects - Projects - Kanban - Other notes in my vault - Scheduled: Calendar - Google Calendar - Calendly - Reclaim - Habit tracking - with Excalidraw - Past - Retrospectives, updating goals - Actually uses the same notes as the Future ![[time-management-in-obsidian.light.png]] %% [[time-management-in-obsidian|Edit in Excalidraw]] %% - Everything you've seen here is available on my Patreon. Patrons get access to all my templates, Dataview query samples, exclusive videos, and more. Most of all, they help me make it possible to make videos like this. Thank you, Patrons! ### Outro If you'd like more information about the Periodic Notes plugin, check out this video, where I go more into detail on how I use it. ### Related videos and resources Habit Tracker template by Saturday Gift: https://www.saturdaygift.com/habit-tracker-printable/ My Periodic Notes plugin video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Uxj0XgMp0k Reclaim video: https://youtu.be/cBVjpFDltvQ ### Pinned comment ``` THEMES USED: Minimal (light) PLUGINS USED: Dataview, Templater, Periodic Notes, Projects, Kanban, Checklist, Excalidraw OTHER APPS MENTIONED: Reclaim.ai, Google Calendar ``` ### Timestamps 00:00 Intro 01:24 Core Principles 03:08 Goal-setting and periodic notes 07:52 Rapid logging in Obsidian 11:13 Task management with Reclaim 11:56 Other tasks on Checklist plugin 13:35 Habit Tracker 15:50 Migrating notes elsewhere 16:37 Obsidian Projects 17:22 Google Calendar 17:43 Year Ahead ## Post-production - [x] Create captions using Rev, then edit them. - [x] Take a thumbnail photo and create one for YouTube (1280 x 720). - [x] Add description. - [x] Include the title and any keywords in the first few sentences, but in a natural way. - [x] Add related videos and resources as links. - [x] Add end screen. - [x] Add cards if necessary. - [x] Add chapters/timestamps for YouTube if longer than 5 minutes. - [x] Add mid-roll ads/check monetization settings. - [ ] Post video preview on Patreon. - [ ] Post video preview for YouTube channel members. - [ ] Schedule on YouTube. - [ ] Add video to relevant playlist(s), or create a playlist if necessary. - [ ] Promote on Twitter/LinkedIn as appropriate. - [ ] Create a blog post on [site](https://nicolevanderhoeven.com). - [ ] Add to weekly newsletter. - [ ] Add to video-database. - [ ] Add to other notes in my vault as appropriate.
