That video is still valid, but I think I've found a better way. In this video, I'm going to talk about a plugin named Obsidian Projects, *and* I'm going to show you how to use it by setting up a new, better content calendar with it. ### Structure - Between my day job and passion projects like this YouTube channel, I end up creating a lot of different types of content, many of which might be in flight at the same time. Having a content calendar that tells me what's ready to publish when helps me be more proactive about planning my work. - One note for every video/article/feature/script - The old way - Requires two plugins: Fantasy Calendar and Kanban - Fantasy Calendar: need to add calendar, date, and categories - Kanban: Not stored in metadata at all - What is Obsidian Projects? - The essence of Projects is that it creates a separation of concerns: - Input: Parses note frontmatter - Output: Displays parsed data in multiple ways - It's like treating Views as atomic, self-contained modules and providing a common ground and common standards for all of them to be used. - Demo: Let's create a content calendar! - Create a content template. In this case, a video. (Templater plugin) - type - date - status - published - url - tags - cover - Create a folder where content will be saved. - Create a new project in Obsidian Project. (Fill out settings.) - Add new note and fill out parameters (Table view) - Add view: Board. - Add view: Calendar. - Add view: Gallery - If you're a Patreon, you can download this vault, along with this particular use cases, by clicking on the link in the description. ### Outro Obsidian Projects is much more than it may seem at first glance. While it does already have working views, the best part about it is that it provides a framework for other plugins to be added as views to it. If you'd like to learn more about the rationale for the plugin, check out this interview that I did with the Projects plugin developer, Marcus Olsson, who has plans for this plugin that have me really excited about its future. Thanks for watching-- *Ha en trevlig helg!* ### Related videos and resources My live interview with Obsidian Projects dev: https://youtu.be/LdaMe2rzAW8 Marcus's post on the plugin: https://marcus.se.net/announcing-obsidian-projects/ Obsidian Projects on GitHub: https://github.com/marcusolsson/obsidian-projects ### Pinned comment ``` If you'd like to see Obsidian Projects support a new view other than the four mentioned, reach out to the developer of that view (for example, Kanban), as they will need to make some changes to make their plugin compatible with Projects. THEMES USED: Minimal (dark) and Minimal (light). PLUGINS mentioned: Projects, Kanban, Fantasy Calendar, Database Folder. ``` ### Timestamps 0:00 Intro 0:23 The old way: Kanban + Fantasy Calendar 03:21 New: Obsidian Projects plugin 04:34 Creating a content template and folder 07:14 How to use Obsidian Projects 09:15 Calendar View 10:30 Board View 11:02 Gallery View ## Post-production - [x] Create captions using Rev, then edit them. - [x] Take a thumbnail photo and create one for YouTube (1280 x 720). - [x] Add description. - [x] Include the title and any keywords in the first few sentences, but in a natural way. - [x] Add related videos and resources as links. - [x] Add end screen. - [x] Add cards if necessary. - [x] Add chapters/timestamps for YouTube if longer than 5 minutes. - [x] Add mid-roll ads/check monetization settings. - [ ] Post video preview on Patreon. - [ ] Post video preview for YouTube channel members. - [ ] Schedule on YouTube. - [ ] Add video to relevant playlist(s), or create a playlist if necessary. - [ ] Promote on Twitter/LinkedIn as appropriate. - [ ] Create a blog post on [site](https://nicolevanderhoeven.com). - [ ] Add to weekly newsletter. - [ ] Add to video-database. - [ ] Add to other notes in my vault as appropriate.
