Squee is frustrated and has yanked the crowbar away from the door. Not menacingly, but he's definitely frustrated. Inside is a home-- there are three children and a spouse abhuman. I use the subdual field but it doesn't work on Arden. I just make friends with Arden and tell them to watch out for me next time. we are moving to a ravine whose bottom is 50 metres lower than where we are. There is a crystalline surface and we see stars darting across. From a cave, we smell an awful smell of rotting meat and we hear someone crying. We also hear voices but they're not forming any words in particular. We enter. We see the corpse of a large tusked beast. We don't know what it was. There is one voice that is saying "So, so good. So tasty. I can't get enough of this stuff." a voice crying like a child. and another that says "I was happy, once. Joyous, without sorrow. Once. I can never be happy again". We're looking at blobs of flesh with teeth and mouths on them that are eating the corpse. ![[Pasted image 20230219230408.png]] We say nope! And move on. Jackie tries to find us a camp for the night, but rolls a nat 1 and doesn't see a rock come to get her. We rescue her, but neither I nor Squee can do any better. Divine Nex is exasperated and just uses a numenera that creates some sort of tent. Jackie and I take up to a one-hour rest. Squee takes a rest of a few seconds. Finally, [[Divine Nex]] comes out and invites us in and the tent is bigger inside than outside. It's different for each of us. What are we doing? We are going to find the town of [[Vesburgh]], a darling little town that we should get to in a day or two. There's trouble there of some sort. The people there have "drunk the Kool-Aid". Divine has been dispatched to Vesburgh-- they are a missionary of sorts. There's something up with the populace.
