# [[001_20220510 Graves Left Wanting]] ## Session Summary > [!tldr] [[001_20220510 Graves Left Wanting]] > Five miserable knaves find themselves in the graveyard of Graven-Tosk in Sarkash, with only two things in common: a hatred for corvids and their current predicament. Each killed in separate ways, they all found themselves buried in dirt. As they dug themselves out, they realized they'd never see the sun again. > > After immediately picking a fight with three innocent ravens, they explored a tomb with a standing sarcophagus. They opened it to discover a waxy facsimile of a body, with an iron skeleton and a ruby gem in its ribcage. They continued down a narrow tunnel where the walls themselves writhed with roaches, spoke to the King of the Roaches, a hermit that told them the Undertaker was responsible for their arrival here. > > They pushed forward into the gradually narrowing tunnel, then squeeze out of a membrane as if birthed into another part of the graveyard. Before them stood the Strangly Tree, a large dead tree that swayed with the weight of dead bodies on nooses. Harmug climbed up the ladder and down the rope in the hollow of the tree, finding that the rope made the hanging corpses dance like a macabre marionette show. He took a pendant (and teeth) from the bones he found at the base. When he climbed up and opened up the pendant, he inadvertently awakened the skeletons within the tree, which the party dispatched. > > Agn used a scroll to ask a skeleton three questions, including where to find the Undertaker. The party set off in the direction that the skeleton pointed. Qillnach jumped into the shallow grave, finding the corpse of a bride. As Qillnach touched her veil, she began to rise: the Undertaker of lore. > > The Undertaker, shielded by palefire, caused skeleton arms to bring Agn under the ground, dead forever. In desperation, Urm used a scroll that caused the Undertaker to vomit uncontrollably. With her incapacitated in that way, the party finished her off... only to realize she was actually an incarnation of Verhu, one of the heads of the basilisk, and that killing her had brought the end of the world. The last thing they remembered was darkness. ^summary %% <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Y20baSibkuY" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> 0:00 Character creation 28:21 Game begins - How did you die? 55:58 Presence check for Lulu 1:13:15 Qillnach goes first into the cave 1:26:30 Roaches, roaches everywhere 1:46:25 The Strangly Tree 1:56:50 Harmog opens the pendant 2:26:16 Agn speaks to the dead 2:34:50 Qillnach jumps into the Undertaker's grave 2:58:20 Agn dies again 3:06:45 The world ends anyway %% --- ## Pre-game hype > [!info]- Sunday > Two days before the day you died, all denials evaporated on the lips of the nonbelievers as the first of the prophecies was proved true. > > Psalm 1:6: _And blood-cough shall spread like fire across the wastelands of the drought._ > > Did you cradle a loved one's head as the sides of their mouths became well-worn trails of blood? In two days, you will tell how you escaped infection, or not, as the plague claimed the unfaithful. > > ![[Dense Woods.jpeg]] > [!info]- Monday > One day before you died, news of the second foretold catastrophe reached your ears through fearful whispers. > > Psalm 3:1: _At Graven-Tosk the soil shall grow warm and those who rest be made to walk._ > > Tomorrow, you will feel the simmering heat of the soil as the dead around you start to rise. > > ![[Raven 2.jpeg]] > [!info]- Tuesday before the game > You remember the sun, but now only faintly, and as the hours pass you start to second-guess yourself. Did it ever exist? > > From the Calendar of Nechrubel, Psalm 6:1 _You shall know the last day is come. The sun shall set and never rise._ > > We meet tonight, after the dead sun has set. > > ![[Bloodmoon.jpeg]] ## Before the start - ==20:00== We're recording, but it's for private viewing only. Anyone have any issues with that? - If at any point you are uncomfortable with anything that's happening, just say "Pause for a second". But you can also say this if YOU want to check in with someone else, or if you didn't hear what happened, or anything else. - This is supposed to be fun! The world may be ending, but if we aren't still our silly selves, it'll be depressing and not fun. - [[Mörk Borg Character Creation]] - Some things about this game: - Your character doesn't have abilities or skills. If you want to do a deception check, you as the player will have to say something convincing. If you want to check for traps, you as the player have to tell me what you're looking for and where you're looking for it. - You might die! If you do, create a new character using Scvmbirther and we'll keep going from there. ## Strong start ==20:45== > You've all watched as in the last few days, the prophecies from this twisted bible called the Bible of Nechrubel have, to your astonishment (or your satisfaction, you decide) come true. > > First came the plague. _Psalm 1:6. And blood-cough shall spread like fire across the wastelands of the drought._ You watched as the world around you began to implode under the stress and collective trauma of so much death. Maybe, you even began to cough yourselves. > > The next day, you began to hear rumours of occult magic afoot in Sarkash, specifically, in the graveyard known as Graven-Tosk, that had been turned into more of a rubbish heap than a graveyard. _Psalm 3:1. At Graven-Tosk the soil shall grow warm and those who rest be made to walk._ The undead and undying have begun to take over, slowly outnumbering the living. > > Today, you all woke up to a dying sun, bleeding orange and red across the sky even at high noon, and you remembered another prophecy. _Psalm 6:1. You shall know the last day is come. The sun shall set and never rise._ > > That's the last thing that you remember thinking before the plague finally overpowered you. Because we start with all of you suffocating in the darkness, earth in your every orifice as we start the game with you joining not the living, but the undead. > > Please go around and describe for everyone how you died, what you look like, and how you dig yourself out of your own grave. ## Scenes - [x] Waking up in a grave in [[Graven-Tosk#The Plague Pit|The Plague Pit]]. ![[mörk-borg-graves-left-wanting-02.png]] Vresi (Andy) was murdered along with his father.
