## Session Summary
> [!tldr] [[001_20220407 Tomb of the Unseeables]]
> We were recently tasked to steal something for a local crime lord named Urgo the Crusher. I, the tracker, narrowed down the cart and wagon carrying the noble possessing the item to a mountain pass. My associate, Leoric, was supposed to help me smuggle it out of the region and back to Urgo. Unfortunately, the noble recognized me as being of noble birth and attempted to blackmail me. Afraid that others would discover my secret, I let him go, item unstolen.
>
> Urgo was furious, and told us we owed him 3,000 cp. He suggested we pay our debt to him by going to raid a tomb he'd heard of in the nearby mountains.
>
> While scoping out the triangular-shaped entrance of the tomb, Leoric and I met a merchant named Blackback, who suggested he might be able to sell us both goods and information if we should come into some money. We spent some time with him but eventually entered the tomb.
>
> We came to a chamber with a coffin in the centre and iconography of a snake running all throughout the walls. Leoric recognized the iconography as belonging to a group called _The Unseeables_, people so horrible to look at that nobody could bear to gaze upon them. We opened the coffin and found one stone figurine. We smashed it, expecting treasure, and indeed found an amulet-- as well as a green, poisonous haze that infected us. ^summary
## The system: Knave
- OSR: you are an average person, not a hero
- Monsters and encounters are not balanced-- you can't always beat everyone
- Bad things can happen; all dice rolls will be out in the open
- Less dice rolling. We only roll when we really don't know the outcome. Because of this, try to get advantage when you can.
- Gear defines you. No character classes.
### Lines and Veils

## Log
[[Amria]]
We are jointly starting with debt. We owe a lot of money (3,000 cp) to [[Urgo the Crusher]], a local crime lord. He's lost a lot of money because of us. However he told us about a potential source of riches: a tomb that he heard about.
[[Leoric]]
- Male smuggler; he is honourable but deceitful (honour among thieves)
- We are related

We were supposed to steal something for Urgo. I tracked it to a mountain pass and waited for the noble's cart to arrive. Leoric was supposed to smuggle it out. Unfortunately, the noble blackmailed me with a secret, and we chose not to steal from him after all. Urgo was furious.
We are cousins?
My rune: *Masquerade*. Make a character's appearance and voice equal to a touched character's for 10 minutes per level. Range: 40 ft.
Urgo got the information from a local, who found it in the nearby mountains. We are in a bit of a hurry because others may know the location as well.

We see a triangular-shaped entrance going into a rock. Stone slab has fallen to the side, remains of a fallen tree next to it.
We have three torches each. Each one burns for 1 hour each. We hear the sound of something or someone moving from the forest, coming at an angle different from the one we came in. It's coming towards us. Sounds like it's a wagon.
There is a huge man that comes out of the trees, wearing a big leather coat and a huge hat. He is whistling. He is Hagrid-ish. He doesn't seem to be hiding. He's like a fantasy dwarf (stocky) but very tall. He's dragging a wagon behind him. There is a lantern on the front of the wagon. He comes straight towards the opening. "This was a nice evening walk. Doesn't seem like anyone has arrived here yet."
Target is always 15. I scale a tree and ready a bow.
Leoric goes up to the guy. He seems to have been expecting someone. His name is "[[Blackback]]" because he has a very hairy back (TMI!). He is here for "location, location, location". He claims to be a merchant. He's expecting adventurers. He knows about Urgo the Crusher-- he says that Urgo has sold the map to multiple people, not just us. He says Urgo probably doesn't trust us and there are others that are coming too.
He may have some hints if we come back and buy something from him later. We start a campfire later. He shows us some of his items: torches, lanterns, dungeoneering tools, air bladder being able to breathe underwater (7c), bottle of glue (strongest glue-- could be a makeshift hammer. You can put it underneath a sleeping person). He also has a runestone. He will give us a 1cp rebate later.
We go into the entrance. It's made of coarse stone, made deliberately. Air is stale. The walls are leaning inwards, forming a triangle.
Right: small passageway to a chamber. It's not that big, about two steps across. There's a structure at the centre of it.
Left: Identical, but in the opposite direction.
We go into the right passageway. The tomb is already covered with a bit of moss. It's quite humid here. There is an inlay, a green, wave-like pattern in the stone wall that goes around the length of the room. It has colored stones but they don't seem valuable.
There were other civilizations in this world. One of the civilizations was "The Unseeables", a group of people so horrible to look at that nobody could look at them. They liked the movement of the Silent Sea and depicted it in wave patterns everywhere. They went into the Silent Sea and never returned. There are a lot of scary legends around them.
The coffin is solid wood. No nails. Inside, there is a stone figurine. We get revulsed when we look at it. It's about two hands long, and depicts a creature that is unpleasant to look at. It is terracotta. Leoric takes it. There's something rattling around inside. We smash it and each take 1d4 damage as a green poisonous gas fills the room. When it dissipates, we find an amulet. It looks like it's made of steel. Leoric takes it.
