# 04_20200926 Research in the Temple of Oghma
## Session Summary
In the library, each member of the group had to reveal a bit of knowledge that they knew to appease a presence. Upon doing so, the presence was satisfied, and each one lost some intelligence. They found a magical librarian that had apparently been locked there for a long time. Insane and phasing magically between forms, the librarian seemed intent on organizing books. A portal opened sporadically in the walls, releasing creatures that seemed like an amalgamation of different creatures, strange combinations of stalks and scales and fur. While fending off some of these creatures that were hostile, the group was able to spend several hours going through the library, each one taking a book or two to study further. ^summary
## Recap

## Log
- The statue says: "Welcome to the temple of knowledge. The library is open." and it slides to one side.
- Sounds like there are individual small sounds of rats
- It looks like people dug through the floor of the temple a long time ago. The floor is dusty. There are flimsy crates and some rubble ahead of you.
- Voice mutters something. Stacks of books and scrolls on the floor, with pipes and candelabra
- Single file only.
- Small magical hole opens from the wall, and a rat-sized thing with tentacles slithers out of the hole, down the wall, and goes to the books. It inserts its tentacles into the books. This is the sound we can hear.
- Books are not ordered. As far as I can tell, they're randomly ordered. Children's fairy tales, history, other grander books in different languages. Book about ancient city even before [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/The Spellplague]], more than a century ago. "[[Netheril]]" was the name of the ancient city.
- We feel we need to share knowledge to continue.
- Maestro: tentacled creature
- Gloomtoes: flying or jumped creature, shaped like a star
- Hill sings a tavern song
- Me: sang hanging tree song
- Ka'ira: dream of a statue of a gnoll where there's a portal and people are panicking. "Death and blood awaits at the castle" says a mist.
- Portal pops and opens, and this time a ferret like creature with antennas and a mouth. Hundred small tentacles. Black, shiny, slithers along the mountains of books. It finds something and slithers through the pages.
- white, dishevelled, stinky man wearing robes that are too small for me, in his 40s. He walks like he's older. His feet are bare with calluses on his feet. He's holding three books on his other hand.
- "Is it time for my naming yet?"
- Mutters "organize. fix the books. Papa, books are here. Where are you?"
- One of his eyes is white
- Shifts into darkness and shadow for a second, shifts through Ka'ira and moves past her.
- Portal appears and it's a medium-sized cat. one eye on a long black stalk that pops out that has an eye. Attached to a human body with tentacles as arms. No mouth.
- affected by radiant, not fire
- Librarian looking guy comes to take the book from Maestro and puts it back.
- I try to sense magic from books and scrolls
- Multiple volume of books - [[Analects of Vondelak]] (10 volumes)
- Bring 1 or 2 if you want
- Each book is about 5 pounds, thick like a bible
- Seems to teach about language - structure, power, of language
- True name - universe's name for things - gives me power over things
