The party, together with the rescued Nashers, left together. We stopped by Blacklake, which seemed normal, but definitely smelled like what we smelled in the tunnels. Arlon let out a strange whistle, and we saw his kraken friend, Bubbles, whom it appeared the cave-in had freed. > > We returned to Castle Never, and I immediately sensed that the wards had been disabled somehow. We found Sarthos's body by the obelisk in the Vault of the Nine, which was definitely not where we left it. This chamber is filling with water. The scaffolding can only take one more big hit before it collapses as well, taking the corner of the room with it. The were rats had escaped through tiny holes on that side of the room. [[Arlon Bladeshaper|Arlon]] has an eyepatch over one eye. He's fully bearded, and the remaining eye is gray. He's breathing heavily. He doesn't seem to have any weapon. When we tell Arlon that his people are being held captive, he leads us to a button that turns a wheel, and the remaining bars fall to the floor. Their names: [[Escanor]]. [[Valan]]. [[Sohi]]. [[Sarge]]. [[Caitlin]]. Arlon tells us we need to go before the whole place floods. We gather the remaining Nashers and flee. We hear the crashing of waves to the west of the tunnel. To the right, Ka'ira hears a muffled shout - a female voice. Arlon takes the medallion from Eraithe. Ka'ira sees that the tunnels are ancient, but the cave-in seems new. We go to the [[The Kraken Tunnels#Guard Room|room of the Chained Guardian]]. Maestro and Keren don't think the voice is here. They think we've passed it. Eraithe hands me the medallion and I hold it in the room with the chained guardian until Ka'ira comes and joins us. Ka'ira goes exploring on her own and finds some of the wererats. She goes to attack them, and they immediately run off. Ka'ira finds [[Cyla]] partially submerged. Keren and Ka'ira (dragging Cyla) are in the Guardian room. I use Fuego to hold up the entrance and I yell for everyone to leave. - 19 Maestro - 17 Xio - 11 Keren - 11 Rock slide - Ka'ira - Eraithe - Cyla I use a surge and a knack to make an Arcana (Strength) check and I just make it! [[Fuego]] holds up the passage long enough for everyone to get out. We hear water rushing into the hideout behind us. There's one way that goes to the rats' hideout. Arlon leads us out of the tunnels with a natural 20! We all make it up with time to spare, letting the sick Nashers up first. We see the water crash where we were, a few seconds after us. There are 8 Nashers with us. Arlon said that the [[Dead Rats]] were asking him questions that he didn't want to answer - who the Nashers' "other partner" was. They wanted to meet the other partner. Arlon doesn't know who provides weapons. The weapons are just left in the hideout and they got a pile of weapons every week. All they were told was to keep on fighting the New Neverwinter Army and keep them busy. The Dead Rats were a newer partner of the Nashers (about a few weeks in). The Nashers didn't expect the Dead Rats to turn on them. The Dead Rats were selling weapons for money. They were from [[Luskan]]. The Kraken Cloaks of the Alagondar? Children of the Alagondar We stop by the [[Blacklake]]. It seems normal, and the stink is there. It seems like the same smell we smelled in the tunnels. Arlon wants to check something - past the beachfront, past the [[Beached Leviathan]]. He's not the friendliest or most charming - but he seems to have his people's lives as his highest interest. Arlon goes by the water where there are bubbles, and he makes a strange whistle. We see a dark shape in the water - it looks likes the cave-in freed [[Bubbles]]. Arlon says, "Farewell, old friend. You're free!" I failed on getting Bubbles' truename. Arlon found her when they moved into the lair in the sewers. Arlon has flowing gold hair, a full beard, and an eyepatch. [[Nalak]] is Arlon's ancestor (great, great... grandfather). I feel something weird in the castle. Like there's something different with the power source. Arlon knows of [[Kelsier]] but he says he wasn't there at the meeting. He feels bad about what happened and the fact that he wasn't here. Arlon has a tough exterior, but he is dedicated to his people. I also notice that the door to the teleportation spire is open. So is the door to the [[Vault of the Nine]]! The magical wards are off. [[Sarthos]]'s body is by the obelisk in the Vault of the Nine - that's not where we left it. The obelisk is dim. Those who can open the Vault of the Nine - The Nine - Eraithe - Reona - Ka'ira - Maestro - Xio The Kraken Tunnels were made by an organization called [[The Kraken Society]]. They were slavers that were known for their water mages and psions. Most of them are warriors, thieves, and cutthroats, but they did have some mages. Maybe Arlon wasn't able to inspect the entire Kraken tunnels before it was cleaned out. - Check the treasury - Look for anything that's out of place. - Investigate the whole castle.
