# 12_20201101 Going to Castle Never ## Session Summary On Day 5 AX (After Xio), the Order of the Wandering Mind head to Castle Never. We came across spirits in the courtyard who hailed Ka'ira and/or Maestro with "My liege!" and let us pass. Finding the main double doors of the Great Hall locked, we went around to the side of the castle, to the servants' entrance. There, we learned that there was a fire that was perpetually starting up and winding down, reenacting the last few moments of the [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Mount Hotenow eruption]]. With fire resistance for some, Arcana skill checks for others, and Hill's lockpicking skills, we were able to unlock the next door and close it behind us. Seeing 9 ghouls in the Great Hall to our left, we decided to try to stealth past the doorway to the door on the right, leading to one of the spires. (whether she had bad plans for Eraithe) - 5 of us, including Hill and Gloomtoes. - We can see three gates from Castle Never and [[Winged Wyvern]] bridge (guarded). No children. - Insight check 24: the spirits are waiting for us to pass by, which we do with no issues - - great hall - entrance doors are melted (not functional) and thick metal, grunting and scratching from far behind it. - side of castle that faces the bay: neverwinter river's red waters empty into the sea. Servants' entrance. - two spires near the back that are mostly up - servant's entrance: hallway. left is blocked, right continues for 60 feet. Frames on the hallway every 5 feet. broken mirrors and glass on floor. we come to a metal door that has also been burnt, with some scorch marks. - courtly women in fancy clothes twirling. Fire is a reenactment of the trigger that killed the Alagondar heirs. They have bite and slash marks, some holding food, some dancing, some standing and chatting to each other. But none of them are human. They all have red eyes as if they've been smoked and dried. They have sharp teeth. - Ka'ira's nature check 24: ghouls that need meat to survive. They haven't eaten in a while. But it's unusual that these things are dancing and eating and talking as if they're still human. - the ones that are moving - 9 of them - opposite us: doorway to another corridor - left: doors of great hall - right: smaller door - right: spire - We try to take the path to the right to go to the spire, but Maestro fails his stealth check, encumbered by his wounds from the fire, and the ghouls come for us!
