# 27_20201204 The Crown Decides ## Session Summary After the fight, Gloomtoes explains that the obelisk that he used to breathe life into Galadim seems to connect two places: one nearby and one farther away. Galadim said that the Nine served King Nash, but only awakened in times of peril. I get Declan's truename, telling him I could use it to communicate information about demons to him. We went into the Royal Archives, where I found a book on Alagondar genealogy and Maestro found a historical log from just before Mount Hotenow erupted. I convinced Galadim to retrieve the Crown of Neverwinter and let Ka'ira and Maestro try it on, on punishment of death if they were unfit. They both tried it on and it fit them both. Galadim swore fealty to them, his purpose renewed. He also then allowed us to loot the Royal Treasury. ^summary ## Recap ![[26_20201128 Gloomtoes awakens Galadim#^summary]] ## Log - # HP - {{[[table]]}} - **Name** - **Damage taken** - **Total HP** - Maestro - - - 24/56, 5 temp HP - Ka'ira - - - 54/69 - Hill - - - - Gloomtoes - - - - Xio - -6 - , 5 temp HP - Eraithe - - - 27/? ongoing 5 necrotic, slow, (save ends) - Declan - - - 2/ - Gloomtoes had explained that he felt that there were two places that he sensed the magic: this place and one that was far away. (with +2 because he was willing) - we take two short rests so that I can heal Declan and regain my encounter powers. - A portal appears, but closes again. - Galadim says that only the nine and the royal household are allowed into the [[Vault of the Nine]]. - door: stone enforced with steel > Archives - Galadim unlocks the door - 20 x 40' room - scroll tubes, books, ledgers on shelves. table, two chairs on far wall - air is clean and not musty, even though nobody's been here for a long time - pleasant small alcove - walls and floors, ceiling, door are magical. - stuff we found - I found a ledger with the genealogy of the Alagondar!!! - [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Alagondar Genealogy Book]] #[[Carrying (Xionerys)]] - Maestro found a [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Historian's Log]] for what Nash Alagondar has been doing. Date now: 1479 DR. 1385 was the year of the blue fire. Nash died in 1385, but the line continued from there. The Alagondars didn't die on that year. Neverwinter survived. Then, __66__ years after the blue fire, [Hotenow erupted]([[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Mount Hotenow eruption]]) and that's what killed almost everyone in Neverwinter. What Maestro found was a record just before Hotenow erupted (__1451__). [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Melandrach Alagondar]] and his wife [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Lyra Alagondar]]. - Galadim: The [[Crown of Neverwinter]] is said to choose who the rightful ruler is. If it deems you unfit, you would die in fire and frost. Hear him opening latches and a chest. - [x] Ask [[Galadim]] whether the crown just judges your personality or if actually determines bloodline (according to the legend). [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Agenda]] [[Next Actions]] - most important artifact of the Alagondar family. - lock and latch are open. Velvety material where a bejeweled crown is resting. - Crown appears to be reflecting the light from within the room. Somehow radiates warmth and a majesty that we don't even feel with Syrinx. - Ka'ira goes to put it on her head and it resizes to fit her head. Nothing happens! Slight warmth from the crown. It starts to extend its power to her. Galadim. - Maestro is able to wear it too - Galadim swears fealty to both Ka'ira and Maestro. He will protect them to the end of his life. - [[Royal Treasury]] - table with a scroll. There's a note under the scroll. - Note from [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Uwun the Flawless]] - > Sire, I have made my way into the sea dog's lair unnoticed. As we have expected, the fruits of their pillaging rivals even that of Neverwinter's boats. I have placed the following sigils in secret parts of their abode. Please give this note and this ritual page to your high magus. He will know what to do. This fulfills my service to you. Shine bright! Uwun the Flawless. - [x] Ask Kuya how old this note looks. #[[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Agenda]] [[Next Actions]] - Scroll: [[Linked Portal (ritual)]] - anchor point - teleportation circle > presumably to [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Sea Dogs' Lair]] - When unrolled, scroll is a page from a ritual book: Linked Portal - 2 small pouches on the table as well. - First: light. Looks 80% full. Small, hand-sized pouch. But it weighs less than a coin. I undo the drawstring and open it. Shimmering dust. - [[Residuum]] - dust that you get from disenchanting. I can also use it to make a new magic item. There's enough for 7000 gp. - Second: A bit bigger. Seems empty. Inside is bigger than it looks outside. Two gems and a piece of paper. - [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Bag of Holding]] - Can hold 50 pounds. - Note: handwritten words. `Payment to the Arcane Brotherhood.`#[[The Arcane Brotherhood]] - 2 [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Astral diamond]]s. #[[Loot to Divide]] - Diamonds but they have light inside them, shining literallly from within. - This is not used by mortals. It has a lock. - [[The Elven Glass Longsword]] - Ka'ira investigates: longsword that is almost invisible. Hard as metal, but looks like glass. #[[Loot to Divide]] - lamp (around our height) with a cloth over it in one corner. - Maestro investigates: metal hands holding an orb. You can hold it one hand. It's faintly glowing and pulsing. It's like a pearl. White, reflective. #[[Loot to Divide]] - opposite table on the floor is a medium-sized chest. beside that is another chest that is open (where the crown was) - Unlocks even before Ka'ira opens it. Silver coins stamped with a face you don't recognize. On the back, it's Bahamut's symbol. 36,000 sp. - I have 2500 sp in the bag of holding #[[Loot to Divide]] - wall, floor, ceiling, door, pouches are magical - Eraithe: [This sword]([[The Elven Glass Longsword]]) was forged by elves. He can learn more by studying its markings. This is of fine make and much better than what I have. - I touch [[The Ioxian League Obelisk in Castle Never]]. It is connected to another power source. It's not a control for a magic that's in the castle. It's just an extension to whatever it is. The source seems to be nearby. The magic is being expended here (or somewhere near here) and somewhere very far away. Magic is powerful but dormant right now. - [x] Ask [[Declan]]: Do you think the [[Ustilagor]]s that we fought could have come from [[Mount Hotenow]] as well? #[[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Agenda]] [[Next Actions]] -
