# 34_20201219 Bird Room and Big Tree
## Session Summary
We take a short rest in the Spider Spire, surrounded by the Spider Spire Ettercaps eating the food from my Travellers' Feast. They tell us about the dangers of the castle, and we decide to go to the Bird Room to try to reduce the number of "pets" that the "big eye with fang" has before facing it. In the bird room, we find lots of trees and a cat-like aberration with blue fur that avoided us. We continued along the corridor to the Big Tree Spire, where we saw three harpies and one ettercap. The ettercap went to get its master, and we entered combat! ^summary

## Log
- Short rest in the Spider Spire. Ettercaps treat spiderlings like pets. They love the food I made.
- I cast comprehend languages. They are all thankful for this unexpected food. They haven't eaten for several days. They wonder if they should go home.
- Leader has mixed feelings about everything.
- They're a bit scared of us. But they can help us by telling us what's nearby: the eye with fang, tentacles with fang, no bloods with fire, birds that sing.
- "Birds with song come here sometimes. Sing to us, get us, but we can't leave so we are safe. Tentacles with fang never come here. But stay in bird room. Eating birds. Birds are food. Big eye with fang never comes here. Mate never comes here. Mate never come back."
- The [[Spire Spider]] was not one of them. - blue and white. "Don't know spider like that."
- Blue and red - big eye with fang. Not a spider.
- Servants are cleaning up the corridor.
- In the Great Hall, only two ghouls remain that have been turned into stone.
- Bird room door is wooden, reinforced with metal. Seems like the edges of the door have been pushed against the doorframe, so the door is stuck. Something very strong has done it.
- There are tremors that come every few hours.
- I "called" [[Hill]] to tell him we're going into the bird room and to ask [[Madame Rosene]] if she knows about the [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Sea Dogs' Lair]].
- [x] [[Hill]] to return with answers from [[Madame Rosene]] [[Waiting For]] #[[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Agenda]]
- We destroy the door. Warm air, smelling of trees and soil. Shrubs that have overgrown the door. Some of the trees have grown past a dome. There are gilded cages on some of the trees, about two feet tall. They are mangled and forced open.
- Birds are quiet due to the noise we made.
- Ground covered by roots and soil. The trees have begun to bear fruit. They have some weird damage marks. They're about our height. Below that line, there are no fruits.
- It's a big circular area. We can't see any other exits. About 100 feet. Dome is open to the sky.
- Fruits have been squeezed open, and they have scratch marks as if something had squeezed it. There are also sharp puncture marks.
- [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Lydia]] sees: something hiding in the undergrowth, something with blue-black fur, motionless. Somewhere in the middle, 50 feet from us. #[[Displacer Beast]]
- Blue-black appendage unfurls. It's long, about ten feet or so. Underside has suction cups with a fang in the center. It squeezes Lydia and she dies.
- Difficult terrain, and anything within 2 squares is concealed because of the undergrowth.
- Ka'ira climbs a tree and sees a feline that is black-blue. It moves very quickly. It's a large creature. When it saw that Ka'ira had seen it, it left. #[[Displacer Beast]]
- Fruit looks a bit like an orange or apple. It's firmly attached to the stem. Ka'ira's 13 strength roll succeeded in getting a whole one. Ka'ira tastes it. It's sweet. It has some seeds in it.
- Got a whole fruit with my mage hand. I kept it.
- Normal wildlife.
- We reach another side of this huge dome and we spot a door, slightly bent (30 degrees or so). Pattern on the ground. There used to be a path that was just overgrown. We see that it leads from the door we came from to this second door. It's a Y-shaped path that goes away from the two doors.
- Door 2 is wooden, reinforced with metal. There are scratches on the handle.
- North Eastern fork of Y
- Door 3 looks normal, undamaged. All three doors here are the same: wooden, reinforced with metal.
- North Western fork of Y
- Opens to a corridor that curves to the east (north and east). Left is a wall, front is a wall. There are windows that show the outside of the castle, looking out into Neverwinter bay.
- This part of the castle is slightly scorched. There are muddy tracks on the ground as if things have been moving through here.
- On both sides, the handle has scratches, as if it's been clawed at.
- Corridor has a door to the north with an ettercap guarding it. [[Seelak]] sees us and goes right into the room.
- massive room and stairs have been removed somehow. Each room was about 30 feet tall. There's another floor but we can't get to it.
- In the middle of the ceiling is a 15 foot diameter hole.
- higher floor, straight up for 60 feet. webbing where stairs used to go.
- inside we can see
- two harpies at the nest, one flying by the window. Above us, the ettercap has climbed up the wall above the door.
-
- Talking maps with Kuya!
