# 37_20201226 Retreating to our allies the ettercaps
## Session Summary
Retreating from the loss of [[Galadim]] to [[Tar'gath the Beholder]] and then from our inability to kill the displacer beasts, we went to the servants' entrance to recover while we made our way into the Spider Spire. After touching base with the [[The Spider Spire Ettercaps]], we headed to the Teleportation Spire to see what was happening outside, and then we sought refuge in the Vault of the Nine for the night. In the [[Royal Archives]], Maestro, Gloomtoes, and I all picked out books. Maestro got [[Historian's Log]], Gloomtoes looked up information on [[the Nine]], and I got [[Second Alagondar Genealogy Book]]. There, Reona found us, having followed the notes we'd left for Hill. She told us that Hill had left for Luskan after delivering the message and finding someone on the docks that had given him some presumably bad news. Reona seemed exhausted, like she hadn't slept in a while. ^summary
## Log
We go to the servants' entrance to leave [[Hill]] a message. No more debris; no more. We left notes for Hill
- We go to the Ettercaps. "Silver mountain dead? Silver mountain pet?"
- Beholders are paranoid and don't trust anyone, not even those of their kind.
- They always have a secret or an escape plan.
- Convince it that the castle is under siege
- Some beholders establish organizations.
- I know that [[The Arcane Brotherhood]] is a brotherhood of wizards that was there even before the Spellplague. It used to be the prominent controlling government of [[Luskan]]. They operated out of the [[Host Tower of the Arcane]], which stands today but is empty. We haven't heard anything of them for a long time. Not sure why. Their purpose was selfish: to make themselves more powerful and gain more magic. They were overthrown - there was a violent event - a rebellion or something that forced them out of their position.
- Hill is from Luskan!
- Less than a week by sea, closest port to the north
- Gloomtoes has not heard voices in this castle.
- Zeethrix is the name of the [[Zeethrix]]
- I brewed a [[Potion of Healing]] and gave it to Maestro
- We went to the [[Teleportation Spire]]. [[Neverwinter River]] is still red. This spire is not attached to the castle. We see the [[Protector's Enclave]].
- [[the Big Tree Spire]] is bigger than this one.
- There's a commotion in the Protector's Enclave, but we can't tell what.
- Iceberg towed by ship are still there at the Protector's Enclave.
- There seems to be a queue
- Two other ships near Beached Leviathan
- Vault of the Nine
- [[Eraithe]] doesn't know anything about [[Ravonn]]
- [[Blink Dogs]] are natural enemies of [[Displacer Beast]]s
- [x] Ask Kuya if there's anything in the book about [[Lady Myrtria Ember]], or about [[Lord Vers Never]] from [[Waterdeep]] getting married. Anything that might hint at who [[Neverember]] actually is - maybe he's the son of a close rival, or a servant, or noble at that time? Who are [[Illegible Alagondar]]'s parents? - [[Reona]] came! She looks tired and exhausted, like she hasn't slept.
- Mercenaries are worried about a distraction in the Protector's Enclave. Reona doesn't know what that is.
- [[Hill]] went back to Luskan. He found someone or something at the docks and he seemed to be in a hurry.
- The nobles would return if they would be allowed to form guilds. Worksman guilds.
- One noble didn't leave: [[Mordai Vell]]. He has a manor in the [[Blacklake District]]. He has his own guards. His manor is well-patrolled.
- He's nowhere in the city
- Reona gives me 50 gp of alchemical supplies, 325 gp of inks and papers
- Why are you so tired?
