# 38_20201227 Reona attacks and we meet Thraid
## Session Summary
In the Royal Archives, Maestro, Gloomtoes, and I did some research on the Alagondars and the Nine. To our surprise, Reona knocked on the door of the Vault, having followed the notes that we'd left for Hill. She told us that Hill had left after getting some news from someone at the docks, but not before he'd delivered our message to Madame Rosene. We settled down for the night, and Maestro and Ka'ira both had interesting dreams, but Ka'ira was unceremoniously woken up by Reona sticking a dagger in her. Reona, apparently, had fallen prey to a mass charm.. After we subdued Reona, I used the obelisk to redirect its power to Thraid and her dragon. Thraid introduced herself to us and gave us a bit more information that she knew from her time. ^summary

## Log
(Ask Reona)
- [x] Can Madame Rosene send help?
- [x] Can you ask the noble, [[Mordai Vell]], to help us? What would he want?
- [x] Why are you so tired?
- [x] What do the other nobles need to be allowed to form guilds? Is approval enough?
- [x] How did Madame Rosene react to what Hill said?
- [x] Are there still mercenaries down the hill? No
- [x] What do you think of Cyriac? Any news from him?
- Maestro's research: [[Historian's Log]]
- The way magic worked just stopped after [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/The Spellplague]]. Cities, especially magic-centered cities, collapsed, like [[Calimshan]] and [[Thay]]. Many wizards died. Others lived but went insane. A few of them lived and survived. Those eventually learned how to work magic again, but in a different way.
- Last entries seen were about cities trying to recover from the loss of magic and a lot of reports about "[[Plaguelands]]" and [[Earthmote]]s. Plaguelands are areas of the earth where the blue magic still lingered. Some earthmotes stopped levitating, but others did not, and just disappeared into the sky.
- Neverwinter adjusted to the earthmotes. Before the Spellplague, there was an orc invasion that was repelled by an unprecedented gathering of the races. [[Ban Alagondar]], son of [[Nash Alagondar]]. [[Luskan]], [[Waterdeep]], and dwarven cities beyond the mountains were assailed by the orcs. Neverwinter was one of the farthest settlements reached. Right after the Spellplague, there were increasing reports of fey creatures on the outskirts of Neverwinter and shadow creatures that had never been seen in this world before, and demonic creatures. They don't know what the cause is, but it was probably the Spellplague and how it changed the connection between planes.
- [[Neverwinter]] was at its height, with about 20,000 inhabitants. Mainly exporting mines from nearby dwarven settlements and crafts - things that Neverwintans made. Especially the water clocks of Neverwinter. It's an expression: "by the clocks of Neverwinter". Many skilled workers. They import materials from other cities (especially [[Waterdeep]]) and they trade by the sea. Also a note about trading with a continent that wasn't there before the Spellplague.
- This was a few years before Hotenow erupted. Around 1440s.
- # My research: [[Second Alagondar Genealogy Book]]
- [[Nash Alagondar]] had only one son and several daughters. His son was [[Ban Alagondar]]. He was technically the first king of Neverwinter, because Nasher didn't want to be crowned king - he just wanted to protect the city. With Ban, the Alagondar royal line began. Only males matter for hierarchy. :(
- [[Illegible Alagondar]] and [[Neia Alagondar]] are both Alagondars. Illegible is a descendant of Ban.
- [[Neverember]] claim: [[Lady Myrtria Ember]] and [[Lord Vers Never]], the lost son of [[Nash Alagondar]] and step-brother of [[Ban Alagondar]]. But that's not here. [[Cyriac]]'s ledger showed that Lady Myrtria Ember died before Neverember was supposedly born.
- # Gloomtoes
- [[the Nine]] have been here since near the end of [[Nash Alagondar]]'s rule. They were warriors of different races but they worked together and got close to Nasher when they were preparing for various invasions. Usually there is only one at a time that is active because there is not enough power or need to have more than one at a time. High mages (cooperation between races) bound The Nine to their statues and crafted the power source required. They're fiercely loyal.
- Not all are knights. Some are assassins. Some are thieves, barbarians. The power source is mostly dwarven make with elven highlights. They can't fight an army but their loyalty is unquestionable.
- # Ka'ira's dream
- Walking down the road, forest on one side. There's an old man by the road with tattered clothes and a stick on his shoulder. Stranger. On that stick, there are seven golden canaries all on the stick. Road leads to Hall of Justice.
- (This form is a common one that [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Bahamut]] takes)
- "We've spoken before. I know you. Why don't you come with me to the temple? Maybe I'll just go and prepare it for you."
- Icons of other gods appear in the [[Hall of Justice]]. [[Tyr]]. [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Bahamut]], gauntlets of [[Helm (god)]], symbol of [[Torm]]. The gods of law and justice.
- "All it needs is for you to fix it."
- Ka'ira is a dragonborn peasant. "I know you've been doing great things in the future. We all trust you. Continue what you're doing."
- # Maestro's dream
- He can't see well. He's smaller, closer to the ground. HIs eyes are smaller, younger. They don't look like your hands. You see something small and black go towards you and you see pain in your chest where it hits. Another pain on your side. Can't see anything, all dark. Another dark thing rushes towards your face and you seem to fall. You look back towards the sky.
- You're on a bed and you see clearly. Bed feels familiar. Small, simple wooden room. Door opens and you feel sore all over. [[Father Tyson]] comes in. "Ah, you're awake."
- [[The Order of the Ebon Hand]]
- Bloodcurdling shriek echoes in vault and a blade slices into you, missing your neck.
- [[Reona]] is standing above Ka'ira. Her eyes are crazy. One eye is smaller than the other. "I'm gonna kill you all!"

- Got Reona's Truename
- Identify Arcana spell on Reona: similar to Charm, but not specific to her. It's more like a mass charm. She looks ragged and exhausted.
- "I was just dreaming." voices, body parts, clouds of blue and black, the same song as Gloomtoes.
- She has a [[Dreamthief doll]] but it didn't work.
- [[Madame Rosene]] never ages, according to Reona
- [[Cymril]] did look a bit off before the battle that killed her. But only she was attacking the others.
- Ka'ira's religion check: 7 canaries are polymorphed gold dragons and the old man is the preferred form of [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Bahamut]].
- She hasn't seen Cyriac.
- Reona knows where Morgan Vel lives. We could ask her to send a message.
- Neverember moved out of the Hall of Justice, and he invited good clerics from different gods to go to the Hall.
- Maybe nobles need it in writing that we'll allow them.
- I touch the obelisk
- I can only redirect.
- We redirect to [[Thraid]]. Goes through the drawings of Bahamut on the floor and towards Thraid's statue.
- Dragon starts moving and flexing its wings
- Mist of white air comes out of the dragon's mouth. Dissipates.
- Thraid. "You're not Nasher. What be your name?"
- She's a she! Head is blank. Old hands.
- [[Snowflake]] is the name of the dragon.
- "Is [[Yaro]] alive?" (dwarf of [[Gond]] [dwarven god, creator, wonder-maker, inventor, machines, clockwork creatures], a mechanic)
- "Is [[Zeraiah]] still alive?" (she is the high magus)
- [[Destrian]] is the deacon. She was way above our station. Destrian and Zeraiah and Yaro together created [[the Nine]].
- we need to crown Ka'ira
- [[Cloak Tower]] "Maybe my order survived".
- completely different way of casting a spell from me.
- She didn't even know about the Spellplague.
- "The Sea Dogs are still alive"
- sea dogs are pirates
- it's Pirates' Skyhold!!!
- [[The Order of the Many-Starred Cloaks]] is the name of the order
- Legal government of Neverwinter before Nasher
- order of wizards
- During [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/The Spellplague]], the [[Cloak Tower]] disappeared. Called cloak tower because of the colorful cloaks of the wizards. It reappeared six months later, but it was empty. Rumors that one of the adventurers survived but came insane.
- Runes to cloak tower
- white dragons act on instinct. It's their nature
- "[[Ritual of Becoming]]" means Ka'ira was deemed worthy by Bahamut. Every ruler has gone through that ritual. They weren't naturally dragonborns.
- Done in front of Neverwintans, in public.
- Neverember is a gold dragonborn.
- "Nasher just joined the [[Ioxian League]]." - an agreement between the strongest nations to form an alliance to guard against something bigger than an orc invasion.... bigger than a devil... terrible distruction. They defied the gods when they used to walk the earth. There were 12 cities that were part of the Ioxian League. [[Calimshan]].
- Thraid worships [[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Bahamut]].
- [[The Arcane Brotherhood]] operates out of [[Luskan]]
- magical wards prevent mind-altering magics from outside. If you're both inside, it's ok.
- There's a dragon nearby, according to Thraid.
- Renew the charm
- [x] Learn [[Purify Water (ritual)]] from scroll. [[Next Actions]] #[[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Agenda]]
- [ ] Learn [[Knock (ritual)]] from [[Gloomtoes]] [[Next Actions]] #[[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Agenda]]
- [x] Send hill a message and say
- It's ok, we know you've left
- We hope we can come to see you in Luskan to help if we can
- kill harpies, re-charm beholder, charm prince ettercap, go to madame rosene, maybe go to noble, spy on sabine?
