# 40_20210102 The ethics of redemption
%%[Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tD2YaLP2pZw)%%
## Session Summary:
We discussed the morality of redeeming harpies. Ka'ira felt at odds with Maestro and me because we didn't let her redeem the harpy and instead killed it. I explained that I attack what attacks me, and that's how I've been able to survive. Maestro revealed that he judges creatures he comes across according to whether he thinks they have souls. Without any real conclusion, we left to give the ettercaps the dead harpy, and then headed to the Big Tree Spire to try and get back [[Seelak]]. We nearly succeeded in knocking him unconscious, but he fled into [[The Aviary]] instead. He had begun to be petrified, however, so it's possible that he is just a stone statue somewhere.
In the process of attempting to save him, however, he bull rushed, breaking the door to the Big Tree Spire, and we inadvertently entered another battle with [[Tar'gath the Beholder]]. ^summary
