# 45_20210117 The Assassin ## Session Summary We left Driftwood Tavern and went to the safehouse that Reona had told us about. There we found disturbing writing painted on the wall, ostensibly from a still-charmed Reona. We all (except for Eraithe) had a few drinks for Hill. I passed on everyone's messages to Hill and told him we wish him well. We took a long rest, and were awakened when Ka'ira was attacked by an assassin tiefling that was extremely lethal when allowed to sneak up on someone. We succeeded in killing him before he killed Ka'ira. As Ka'ira collapsed within a pile of boxes, she inadvertently found a note from Reona that had Cymril's Harper pin attached to it, saying that she had to go to the chasm. ^summary ## Recap ![[44_20210116 Scuffle at Blacklake#^summary]] ## Log - I asked [[Boza]] about the arrows. He doesn't know about it. - We stealth into the [[Neverwinter Sewers]], moving at speed 2, to get to the safehouse that [[Reona]] told us about. - 1 hour to get to the safehouse because we're moving so slowly. - We hear something that we thought was the earthquake, but it sounds deeper and more resonant (though far away). It's definitely not the earthquake. - 13:00 We get to the safehouse. It's one storey. Reona described this to us. Used to be two-storey, but the top floor was ruined. - Red door with steel bands to get in. - There are two beds in a very big room. Bit odd. One of the beds seems to have been used recently. - There's another room, a mess hall. - Writings on the wall that have been recently placed. - "Eyes are watching" - "Darkness is coming" - "Need to get awayy....." (drags down to the floor) - Can of spilled paint - Cast Comprehend Languages for the arrows - This is a ruined noble house - Second floor - We can see the rest of the city here - There's rubble and ruins. - Various debris seems to have been piled - X 1pm - [[Arcane Lock (ritual)]]on the main safehouse door: Hill, Thraid, Snowflake, 5 of us, Reona, Cyriac - Crossbow bolt: no particular language, but they are just intricate markings. - We all have a few drinks for [[Hill]]. - Sent Hill a message to say that we wish him well. He is or was a tiefling. Bandages around his nose and mouth. He's wearing an open vest that flows down to his knees. Vest is dark blue. His entire abdomen and arms are covered in bandages. Only fingertips are showing. Piercing through the bandages are sharp, stone-like protrusions on his arm like a dinosaur. He's holding a magnificent crossbow. Silver and black materials so that it doesn't reflect light. It has a loaded bolt on it. Stony tail - like a tiefling tail but it's stony instead. Something is engraved on him? - Defenses - Reflex: 25 - AC: 23 - Fortitude: 21 - Will: - Damage - -17 - Attacks - Crossbow - Fire damage (6) as a melee attack - He has tattoos on his arms that look like faces. - Dagger with maw of a dragon with blade coming out of the jaw - When bloodied: "[[ttrpgs/Order of the Wandering Mind/Nefnon]], brother, thank you for your sacrifice". He gets cold. His skin hardens and turns bluish. "You are the first who has lived through my attack. We shall see each other again." He shatters into ice cube pieces on the floor. - He came in through a secret door - Note with a harper pin in a treasure chest - Pin is pinned to the paper. - Note in almost illegibly handwriting (as if it's shaking): `Kept this safe. Kept Cymril's pin safe. Have to go to chasm. [Signed] Reon...` - Ka'ira gave me Cymril's pin - Uneventful long rest
