# 48_20210130 Rescuing the ettercaps ## Session Summary We returned to Castle Never to find that the displacer beasts had attacked the ettercaps in our absence. Luckily, displacer beasts can't climb, so the ettercaps climbed all the way up to the top of the spider spire. We scared the displacer beasts away, persuaded the ettercaps to come down, and healed their wounds. We then decided to hunt down and kill the displacer beasts, but they escaped us again and fled from the castle. We asked Gloomtoes to do an Arcane Lock to keep them out of the main door, at least. We returned to the Vault of the Nine, where Thraid was burning books in a destructive fit of boredom. She declared she wanted to go out and do something, and began to leave in the direction of the Protector's Enclave. Maestro decided he wanted to protect her, upon which the rest of the party decided to go with him as well. ^summary ## Recap of last session ![[47_20210124 Gambling to get the Grimoire of Heraldry#^summary]] ## Log We go back to [[Castle Never]] to find out that the [[Displacer Beast]]s are attacking [[The Spider Spire Ettercaps]]! Sent a message to [[Zeethrix]]: It's safe here now, come back. Ettercap home: "Big forest with dark caves where we sleep safe. Go out every night hunting small fangs, sometimes sharp but people happy when hunting. Full of many leaves and many dark places." We decide to hunt the displacer beasts together with [[The Spider Spire Ettercaps]]. [[Seelak]] and Zeethrix are better at making webs. The guards (3) are better at traditional forms of attacking. The [[Displacer Beast]]s flee the castle and we [[Arcane Lock (ritual)]] the door behind them. [[Thraid]] is burning books in the [[Vault of the Nine]] and playing tag with [[Snowflake]]. She looks like she's playing. But she has her powers back. Thraid is so restless and wants to do something, so she leaves to go to the [[Protector's Enclave]]. We were going to let her go, but [[Maestro]] wanted to protect her, so [[Xionerys]] wanted to come along to protect him and [[Ka'ira]] thought she might as well come to. So we all ended up following her.
