# 51_20210213 Aboveground and belowground
## Session Summary
We waited in the sewers for the footsteps of the mercenaries and the general noise from the battle against the phase spider to die down. Afterwards, Ka'ira, Thraid, Gloomtoes, and Snowflake, bored with the sewers, decided to head aboveground to explore more of the Protector's Enclave. Thraid went off on her own, while the other three spoke to Dayarandor. Meanwhile, Xio, Maestro, and Eraithe made their way stealthily towards the Blacklake District by way of the sewers, meeting a rat-catcher named Ricio along the way. Ricio told them that the rats have been acting smarter. ^summary

## Log
It's 1PM.
We're all stealthing in the sewers, beneath the streets. Eraithe doesn't have a bonus to stealth. (rolls a 13)
There seems to be more organic matter here than the last time - perhaps rats and other animals that are being dissolved in the acid and beginning to rot.
Thraid doesn't mind the smell. Eraithe minds it a lot but isn't complaining.
The fist that Maestro used to punch the spider is tingling. It's a bit numb, but he just attributes it to fighting. However, he begins to understand something about these creatures. He's finding commonalities about the way he fights and how the spider and the displacer beasts disappear. It seems to be rubbing off on him due to his many experiences with fey creatures.
Asked Eraithe how to kill ice phase spiders. Eraithe said that they are natural creatures of the Feywild. The ice phase spider was definitely a phase spider at one point. But it mutated or evolved from that for some reason. Ka'ira mentions a rumor that they heard about frost giants coming down from the north, towards us - they heard this in Helm's Hold.
Eraithe said that [[Displacer Beast]]s were chased out of the Feywild.
They usually lay their eggs in ground, hidden, or in trees. They usually cover their eggs in webs, and the ice phase spider didn't lay eggs.
2 messages sent to [[Ice Phase Spider]].
Maestro's healing surge value is 14, heals for 19 (from Ka'ira's Lay on Hands).
Maestro, Xio, Eraithe are travelling in the sewers, stealthing. We hear a male voice. "I just saw you a second ago. Where are you? Where's your friend?"
We come up to the figure, trying to stealth. We don't succeed in being very stealthy, but the man doesn't really notice. It looks like a dwarf, has a torch, and is poking at the refuse, seemingly talking to himself. There's no one here.
He has filthy, matted hair. We can tell that even in these sewers, he smells bad. He is dirty and greasy. He seems to be wearing an overcoat and a pickaxe. We approach him and he freaks out in surprise. He's a rat-catcher. His eye is twitching. He seems really nervous. His name is [[Ricio]]. Something's making the rats smarter. The rats were distracting him to get past him.
Ka'ira, Thraid, Snowflake, and Gloomtoes head aboveground. Thraid goes off on her own and leaves the other two with Ka'ira.
Merchant man with a black dog. Feather in his cap, flashy cape, not very clean and a bit old, but he's still richer than a typical pleasant. He's not a noble. He doesn't seem to really care about who's royal blood. He's more concerned with getting guilds set up. [[Dayarandor]]. He is a purveyor of gems. He used to be a noble, and he was part of the Rafters' Guild. Half-elf. He's struggling to get by. His guild used to cut gems. He was a favorite among nobles because they love their shiny gems. He tells Ka'ira where his shop is and asks her to come to him if she wants to do business. Belia is the name of his dog. This dog is the size of Gloomtoes. Belia is well-behaved despite not being leashed.
