# 71_20210522 Saving prisoners ## Session Summary Finally facing the first of the pools of survivors, the one that Keren came from, we see an organ sac that begins to birth wretches. Simultaneously, we fight a large blue fire bat that has been transformed by the lightning and fallen to the ground. In the fight, Maestro acquires a festering wound on his leg, but I transfer some of his wounds to me. Maestro, Eraithe, and I dive into the pool and free four prisoners from underwater sacs. Meanwhile, the explosion from the fire bat has damaged the roots in a nearby cave, and we learn that the roots had been like a fungus on the stones of the cave. With the roots burned away, five milk-like puddles begin to ooze out of the stones. One of them disappears as it heals Keren, and another seals the cavern in act of aggression or compassion. ^summary ## Recap of last session ![[70_20210516 Guerilla Tactics#^summary]] --- ## Log Front: pool has a throbbing sac as if something's about to leave Right: entrance to cave Left: something large scraping stones Ka'ira tries to have a look at to the left to see what was there, but can't really see much. It looks leathery and furry. The throbbing sac near the pool begins to empty wretches. Maestro spots a big, blue [[Fire Bats|Fire Bat]] on the left that seems to be stuck. Fire bat is huge - 3x3 (15 feet). The fire bat still needs to climb up to reach us because the passageways are too narrow for it to reach us. (Passable only by Medium) The bat is damaged! Ka'ira tries to soothe the bat. Eraithe seems to be displaying a curiosity for Keren that is unusual. Eraithe is not showing any emotion. Push Maestro gets a festering wound on his left leg. +1 exhaustion Whatever was in the cave is also damaged by the bat's explosion. Something is burning and we can smell it, but we can't quite see what it is. Round 5 - Healing word on Snowflake Bat shrieks again, hitting Ka'ira and Snowflake. Snowflake's reflex is 18 or less Snowflake's will is 15 DONE! 1st success towards healing Maestro's wound. In the cave, there's a half-buried foulspawn that is facing the crystal. There are roots coming out of it and mixing with the roots on the floor. Whenever the lightning flows around the walls, it flows to the crystal and gets discharged upwards. There are more wretch sacs around us. The body of the bat is still on fire and is threatening to set the cave on fire too. Maestro dives into the pool to get the sac. It's like a rosebud with many layers. He feels warm bodies inside. Maestro pulls out a male dwarf ([[Thogrim Stonegift]]). He's bald and completely wet. There are splotches on his arm that seem like they were starting to become transparent. Normal clothes, big apron. No visible weapons. Thin and old for a dwarf, but in good spirits. We take out three other people: 2 human children and a gnome ([[Vondek]]). They were all dragged by grells. There's light-colored fluid in the cave, like milk ([[Milk Elemental]]). The fluid is pooling into white puddles. 31 heal: It's very similar to when a body is infected with a parasite or a fungus. These roots were doing something similar to these rocks. Now that they've been burnt away, the rocks are leaking fluid on the floor. Maestro tries to take some of the fluid. The fluid grows tiny hairs and reaches out to Maestro, like starfish feet. It is cold and refreshing to the touch. It isn't like the water in the pool. It's lighter. The fluid in the pool was black, like tar. The fluid feels friendlier to Ka'ira. Now there are five of them that are coalescing. [[Gloomtoes]] says he's hearing the voices in his head again, asking him to help. That's what he's been hearing all this time. I succeed on my truename check but they don't have names. One of them stays close to Keren and flows around him, then goes into him. It healed him. But now it's gone. Now there are only four left. The stone here now feels different. It's a lighter gray than the rest of the stone here. The gnome is not too old, but he's not one for adventuring. ( [[Vondek]]) White thing goes and closes the entrance, sawing the bat in half. It disappears into the wall, and now there are only three left. 1pm
