# 75_20210612 Nashers are late ## Session Summary Keren took us to the Castle Never teleportation spire. We checked in on the ettercaps, who are okay, and then Keren separated from us to make sure the civillians get safely home. We went to the Driftwood Tavern to see Madame Rosene, who told us that Zaile, keeper of the ledger, had been killed and Cyriac was missing, with signs of battle and explosions in his house. She also said that the Nasher envoy never turned up to escort her (and us), which is odd. We decide to wait at the Driftwood tavern for the envoy while talking to her for a while. ^summary ## Recap of last session ![[74_20210606 Back to the Tower#^summary]] --- ## Log 4pm Non-humanoids can't seem to notice the [[Sanctum Empirica]]. It's a security feature. short rest. 5 pm. [[Keren]] is reading books on planes. Keren is holding back excitement or urgency to stay here in Neverwinter. He doesn't want to leave right now. (Insight check). He says he was here to check on: - status of the city. [[The Harpers]] and the [[Sons of Alagondar]] had a falling out-- the Sons blamed the Harpers for messing up their rebellion because [[Cymril]] was the one who turned on them. The Sons detached from the Harpers. Keren wants to rekindle the friendship. - Check on Reona - Check on heirs - Get rescued prisoners to their homes. - Introduce Ka'ira and Maestro to the two other Harper agents here. (not including Reona) -50 gp for teleportation circle and he has a +5 to Arcana check, so Keren needs 85 gp worth of components. I gave him arcane components and taught him the runes for Castle Never. There is a portal that one person can go through at a time. Everyone goes through. We are in [[Castle Never]]! Thogrim recognizes dwarven architecture in the Castle. Looking out the windows, there's no iceberg anymore. There is a crowd around one of the ships that used to be carrying the icebergs. Keren will get back to us about the Ioxian League after he checks with one of his sources. Maestro tries to get the door to allow us (Keren and me) in and out, but it doesn't work. He touches the obelisk to try and authorize us. He sees a passage that forks many times, and he makes decisions in split seconds. He lets everyone here except the civillians to go in and out of the Vault (this includes Invidoo). Keren also said that he would look into [[Tar'gath the Beholder]]. The statues of the nobles in the Great Hall are permanent now. Thogrim and his grandpappy are now bakers. We get to the docks. There is a pair of new ships. One is big, like the ones pulling icebergs. Another is a sleeker, faster ship. We get to the [[Driftwood Tavern]]. [[Oren]] is the name of the new guard. He seems gruff and not at all friendly. He appears to just be wanting to do his job. [[Madame Rosene]] says we have a problem: [[The Nashers]] didn't send an envoy to the sewers this time. They usually come early and drink and talk a bit, but they haven't arrived yet. Madame Rosene tried to determine who the [[Assassin of the Black Bolt]] was, but they didn't see him again and couldn't figure it out. She says [[Boza]] is recovering from the paralysis. It wasn't meant to kill. She says Oren can be trusted. She firmly believes that everyone in this tavern can be trusted. Ka'ira takes out Maestro's drawing (because Maestro is seeing through Lydia's eyes) of the ruins of Neverwinter that fell into the chasm and shows it to Madame Rosene. She calls one of the other patrons over to look at the furniture -- he might have one already. I give her the jewelry box with the mark of [[House Shadowgust]]. She says they are one of the noble families excited about the new Neverwinter. She writes down the address of the noble and suggests we get favor by giving it to them. There are guards and maybe magical traps under the sewers. When the envoy escorts her, they just walk through without issue. But they haven't come this time. MR has other news. [[Zaile]] has been killed in his home. He was alone in his home and they don't know who did it, but his home was ransacked and the ledger she asked him to keep was stolen. He was a ranger-looking guy. She is worried they're under attack. She sent people to check up on other assets. Everyone else is fine except that Cyriac is missing. The house where he was living in was a safehouse. There was nobody there, and the safehouse was destroyed by an unknown force. There was a ruckus that neighbors heard: a loud explosion a few days later. There was water on the floor, and the walls and doors seem to have exploded (but with no signs of a fire). Water dripping from the ceiling on walls. There were ice shards. They didn't investigate more thoroughly but perhaps we can do that. What happened to [[Cyriac]] seems to have happened before Zaile was killed. It might not have been the same person who killed Zaile and took Cyriac. Zaile was killed by a dagger through the heart. Not a sword-- a dagger. One of [[the Nine]] ([[Thraid]]) has been in the Protector's Enclave, proclaiming that the heirs have been found and that she is one of the Nine. She's also been found fighting the [[Ice Phase Spider]], to no avail.
