# 77_20210619 The Anything Wand
## Session Summary
Keren returns while I'm operating on Gloomtoes. I try to sense the power source of the energy going through the obelisk, and the source is not in the Twisted Fane-- it's northeast of Neverwinter. Mordai Vell's assistant tells us that dragonborns have been killed in Blacklake District by someone like the Assassin of the Black Bolt. Keren tells us that the House of a Thousand Faces is a Harper safehouse.
We get Jax to take us to Cyriac's safehouse. We find a large scale (not a dragonborn one) on the roof of the house that seemed to indicate that SOMEthing had been able to get out, but the rest of the house was in ruins, and there was enough blood there for one person to have been killed outright or mortally wounded.
We also go to Zaille's house, where I find the Anything Wand!! Then we stopped by to retrieve the wine in the other safehouse and leave it in the Castle Never Treasury for safekeeping. ^summary

## Log
[[Keren]] returned some time during the operation. He has money now, somehow.
I place my hands on [[The Ioxian League Obelisk in Castle Never]] to try to sense the gigantic humanoid and where the energy is coming from or where it's going. I can tap into the power source via the obelisk, but it's not the power source. It's just the node. I follow the greatest concentration of energy. Irregular tunnels, not geometric shapes. Blue energy leads into a place brimming with fire so bright it's white. I would have been incinerated if I were there physically. It seems hot and feels farther than Neverwinter. Somewhere northeast. Could be [[Mount Hotenow]].
Whenever we tap into the obelisk, it's like we're intruding into a closed system. It's not meant to be accessed or used this way, but the obelisk seems to allow us access.
[[Brock]] and [[Brom]] have blue markings on their faces.
[[Zofaris Kez]] is a more ancient story. He disappeared during the Spellplague. [[Zeraiah]] is much more recent. They were both High Magi of Neverwinter.
No smell in Boza's wound. They don't smell the same.
Ka'ira's sending stone from [[Mordai Vell]]: "... has instructed me to warn you that there have been disturbing deaths around the city as of late. All these deaths have been dragonborn. Being a dragonborn yourself, he's worried about you as his new ally in Neverwinter. Be careful and wary of people with black crossbow shafts. One more thing: the victims of this dragonborn killer seem to leave the surrounding people unharmed. He seems to go out of his way not to kill others. Their deaths are quick and probably painless." Neverember is still alive, despite being a dragonborn. [[Assassin of the Black Bolt]].
Keren tells us that the [[House of a Thousand Faces]] is a [[Harper]] safehouse in the Blacklake District. The proprietor, an Elven bartender, Theryis, is a Harper agent. So is his brother: Toram, a half-elf. He'll know Maestro and Ka'ira by name, but they still need to show him their badges. He can give information or spread information.
Keren says that [[Reona]] took [[Cymril]]'s death personally and has tried to figure out why Cymril attacked them. She was one of Cymril's closest friends and allies. Reona blames [[Neverember]] for the turn of events, but can't explain how Neverember got Cymril to betray the Sons.
We go to[[ Driftwood Tavern]] and talk to Madame Rosene.
[[Arlon Bladeshaper]] is human, not dragonborn. Most of the Sons are humans or half-elves.
Usually, [[The Nashers]] and [[Graycloaks]] meet at a particular street corner in the [[Protector's Enclave]], or at a tavern at a certain time fo day. They talk there casually and arrange a place to meet again. But they haven't sent word now.
[[Cyriac]] was with [[Indigo]] when he disappeared, and she is gone now too.
[[Zaile]] was actually taken from his house, not a safehouse.
There are Sons agents who go into the orc camp. There is a tavern there that is neutral territory (Neverember arranged it somehow). Lately, it seems that there is something that has riled up the orcs. They seem more restless than normal. They're practicing harder and fighting with each other publicly. We tell Madame Rosene about the orcs not getting word from other tribes, but she says the other entrances and exits to Neverwinter are okay, so it shouldn't be a problem to send word.
They've seen [[Thraid]] drinking at the [[Moonstone Mask]].
[[Jax]] is a young, male human with curly black hair. He's so nondescript that he's forgettable-- perfect for a sneak or spy. He has a tiny voice and is very terse.
Jax takes us to Cyriac's safehouse. Cyriac's safehouse is closer. Cyriac and Indigo were there. It's just one bedroom with two beds, and a dining room. All the walls that divide the two rooms have been blasted open. There are a few books on a table. There are some used utensils for two on the dining table - when they left, they left hurriedly. It's a simple house made of stone, but it's no longer usable.
Maestro notices that there are holes on the walls made by the bolts, but the bolts are not there. There's also some blood on the wall and then outside, as if someone who was injured climbed out. The explosion came from the inside and was not fire-based. On the roof, there is a shiny, reflective mirror-like thing. The shiny thing is like about six inches long, but it's not a dragonborn scale.
The explosion might not be a spell at all. Could be a spell-like ability but not a spell, per se. The books are non-magical. They are scholarly volumes on dragon eggs. I take the three books.
(Btw [[Syrinx]] is a dragon-slayer sword.)
The amount of blood loss seems fatal, or mortal wounds for ONE person. Not two people.
As far as I know, neither Cyriac nor Indigo has arcane abilities. Cyriac hates going on field missions. He likes books and researching, and has to be shaken away from his studies from time to time.
Jax's body language just says he's seen this before and is quite unsurprised.
1 hour has passed. It's around 10 am
We go to [[Zaile]]'s house. It's raining heavily now, which obscures visibility. It's a small dining area with a small room inside it. Unlike the previous safehouse, this house looks intact. From outside, it's dark inside. It's humble, like a house that Zaile built himself with hides. It's like a hunter's lodge-- a small one, for just one person. It smells like tanned leather and hides. There are heads of animals and knives for hunting.
The bed is a small single-person bed made of hay and thick fur. It's also full of blood - it's where he died.
The lock of the door was picked. The Sons found out he was dead when one of the other Sons checked on him. The Sons usually check on each other every 2-3 days.
Magical item sweep. weapons on the ground (things for hunting, making traps, carving wood). Among them is a four-inch metal cylinder that is not sharp on the edges. No noticeable use for it. It doesn't look like a movable rod. It's completely smooth - weirdly so. The smooth surface is cold and heavy and it's not at all balanced as a weapon. But it instantly informs me that it's a magic item called "[[The Anything Wand]]".
- can transform into any wand of level 4 or lower. One charge per use. It has 27 charges.
We went to the safehouse and got the bottle of wine for Gloomtoes. But Gloomtoes said that it was given to both him and Hill, and he'll drink it with Hill as well.
We left the winebottle in the [[Royal Treasury]].
We ended up at 11am.
