The big guy whom Xenia had cast Sleep on, Gunther, began to run away with the couple and a little old man, Fulbar, and the party chased them and killed both Fulbar and Gunther. The couple, Odo and Elysande, surrendered and admitted they'd been robbing the rich to help the poor in the Marrow Valley. > > Feeling charitable, the party persuaded Huvrid that Odo and Elysande had just been charmed by Fulbar. The next morning, they left the Amber Crossroads onto Glory Run Road, travelling south of Rexxentrum. ^summary --- ## Recap ![[004_20210504 Carnival of Coin#^summary]] --- ## Andy's notes We started with Xenia having to explain himself very quickly to the blacksmith dwarf, Huvrid and the crowd of angry merchants and their guards gathering. After some persuasive talking from the party members present, Huvrid was looking swayed. His apprentice ran in having seen the big guy (who you later learned was called Gunther) ran off as soon as he was woken up from the sleep spell by other people on the market. Reya saw Gunther join the other three charlatans (Fulbar the leader who was the little old man, Odo and Elysande, the couple) putting their bags on a couple of pack mules behind some bushes. The party gave chase through the market and caught up with them where there was a stand-off. Gunther pulled out his crossbow. After some persuasion and intimidation that nearly de-escalated things, fighting broke out. Fulbar sliced the strap of Elysande's bag and ran off with it. Promise shot him in the back (of the leg, she says...) and he was stumbling and limping as Kalani caught up with him and grabbed the back off of him. A tickle on the back of the neck from Xenia's Chill Touch finished Fulbar off and down he went, face down into the ground. Back at the bushes, Reya shot Gunther with her shortbow and Milla finished him off with the chilled Milla Lite – Ray of Frost. Odo and Elysande gave themselves up and, after several attempts at bluffing, admitted they were robbing the rich to distribute the wealth to the poor people of the Marrow Valley, but that Fulbar had become greedy. They pleaded not to be turned over to the authorities. You found 23 gp on Fulbar, plus glasses with crystal lenses, one of which was broken in the fall. Searching their mules, you only found a shield but none of the other wares they had stolen. As Huvrid and the other merchants were approaching, the party persuaded them that Odo and Elysande were charmed by Fulbar. Kalani, no longer charmed, emptied Elysande's bag inside out and a whole load of merchant's wares poured out onto the ground. You decided to give them back to the merchants, including the silver box Kalani had bought and given to Odo. The merchant bought it back off of her. Olyffe caught up with everyone and suggested "just one drink" before heading off to bed on his cart seat. You were all invited for food and drink that evening amongst the merchants. Promise went for a walk to pray. Kalani hung out and heard rumours of increased Crownsguard and Righteous Brand presence everywhere, also of incursions on the eastern borders. Xenia purchased a pearl for 105 gp, knocked down from 110 go, with thanks to Milla's bargaining skills. The next morning you headed off on Glory Run road leaving the Amber Crossroads, traveling south of Rexxentrum that you could see in the far distance. That evening you stopped at an encampment of well armed, but seemingly friendly folks at a well-used rest spot. Reya went to chat and hear what the Bard was singing about and he mentioned "ancient deeds" and Bane. A slightly terse conversation about Bane ensued. Later that night, a couple of drunks stumbled through the camp and started to pee against the cart until Milla sent them packing. The next morning, Kalani made terrible coffee before you all headed off on the road again. Reya continued to grill Olyffe about his cart. I forgot! Xenia's pearl purchase allowed him to identify the glasses as Eyes of Charming and the bag as a Bag of Holding. When my notes are correct, Promise got the Eyes of Charming (but beware, they might not work correctly all the time!) and Milla carries the Bag of Holding that she mended with mend. ## Sjoerd's notes We talk Xenia free.
