>
> At the Firemark Facility, the party was told by Blast Gaffer Sleese Firemark that Nima Cinnarid, his best powder artissan, had been sick for the last three weeks and holed up in her house. ## Recap

## Lulu's notes
- After breakfast, I try to mend the burned note we found, but can only regenerate the paper, not the words. Lukas provides us with a map of the town.
- Then we went off to see [[Cleff Tinkertop]] and met him and his daughter, Rissa. Cleff identifies the automaton as a poor copy of his own design, and likely the work of his ex-colleague, Huron [[Stahlmast 💀]] who left Hupperdook some time ago. It is called a [[Vox Seeker]], a clockwork device that you wind up and goes anywhere (1-10 minutes). Locks on to someone's voice and attacks them.
- I draw him a picture of the fox, and he gets very excited about it. Seeming genuine, I agree to show it to him at his workshop, so we follow him there. He identifies and disarms the [[Filigree Fox]]. It was made by his old master , Dimble D..., at least 150 years ago. It was sold to a wealthy family in Rexxentrum.
- **Left, left, right, left** on the eyes turns off the fox. There's only one ever made. Someone had booby-trapped it with the poison needle and an explosive seed, which he takes out and moves outside where it explodes. Cleff directs us to the [[Firemark Facility]] for anything to do with blasting powder.
- On the way, we visit the [[Lay of the Land]] herbalist, [[Zendasa]], who treats us to carrot cake and tea. Xenia buys flax seed and slippery elm bark herbs to ease his constipation (2CP), and I buy a fancy herbalist's pouch for 8GP.
- We also learn that the red clay from the kobold shoes likely comes from up the mountain at the [[Silberquel Ridge]]. Also that she was young at the time of the [[Vermeillon]]'s mine collapse, and her family moved to Hupperdook after her mother starting having nightmares.
- At the Firemark Facility, having talked our way past the guard, we meet [[Blast Gaffer Sleese Firemark]] who checks his ledgers and is very sure, though a little concerned, that no blasting powder or other explosives are missing. He's also pretty guarded about the exploding seeds; they're meant for the military.
- He does say, however, that his best powder artisan, [[Nima Cinnarid]], has been off sick for three weeks, holed up in her house. After we suggest there might be more to that and she might be missing or coerced, he asks if we would check in on her and gives us a pouch of blasting powder in thanks.
- We find Nima's house only to discover it is closed, with a sign on the door warning visitors away. As we try the door a voice answers, inviting us in. There, Wally is ambushed by two normal kobolds and one mecha kobold. Later a fourth one joins the fight.
- After a good fight in which we all try out our new found abilities, the kobolds were swiftly dispatched and we start investigating the house, all the while they begin exploding around us. It's a miracle nobody is hurt.
- During the fight, though, Wally ran into the bedroom and we heard noises of a scuffle and breaking glass. As Promise and I enter the room, we discover signs that Wally has seemingly been captured and dragged out of the window and off somewhere. Red dirt footprints are all over the place.
- Xenia and Reya search the house and find a note among Nima's broken desk:
![[Nima's Note.png]]
> Of all the sources we mine from within the Silberquel, my yield of saltpeter still proves the most pure and powerful! The Firemarks, pry as they might, will have to respect my expertise and contributions to the war effort. The sheer volume of untapped guano in that cavern behind the top of the falls is invaluable, and once I have enough marked interest from the [[Firemark Facility]], I’ll let them help in harvesting my secret cave.
- After using my sorcery points, I notice I have a new rune glowing on my chest, right between the collarbones.
## Sjoerd's notes
[[Cleff Tinkertop]]:
Crab atonomon, looks like my work. Design is mine but is a poor copy by Herran [[Stahlmast]] (human). Vox Seeker = clockwork device, it goes for a minute and locks on a voice, and attacks them. It would be able to deliver an explosive. Been used to carry an explosive. More than one
We discuss the fox with him. Made by [[Cleff Tinketop]] old master at least 150 years ago. Sold to old wealthy family. Dimble Dayron mark DD in paw.
Click eyes left left right left to shut it down
The poison needle was added later.
There are other animals like this, but only one fox.
Another flap uncovered by [[Cleff Tinketop]], disarms an explosive.
A few more weapons are disarmed by [[Cleff Tinketop]]
We go to Firemark explosives facility. Sleeze.
Double steel door. Long corridor. Carts. Side office. Fences. Guard at gate. Some more. Not hugely guarded but lots of employees. Solid looking building.
All explosive are checked in and out.
Employee Nima got ill 3 weeks ago.
Lay of Land herbalist. Red clay; further up mountain. When collecting Herbs, long dormant volcano.
We go to Nima’s. Not a woman’s voice at the door…
Kobolds. We kill them.
[[Wally]] kidnapped!
[[Reya]] investigates study room; wreckage.
Signs of struggles from few weeks past. No magic. Heavy coats. Work boots. Red clay on them. Broken work table. Torn parchment notes.
