They found Yinra Emberwind locked in a jail cell and convinced the guard to tell them where Stahlmast was. They followed his instructions... straight into a trap. Reya fell in and nearly got eaten by reef sharks before Wally and Promise hauled her out in time. > > The party investigated further and made their way to the Clockwork Forge, where they found Stahlmast starting up the Stahlmaster machine that he'd been working on. Battle began! ^summary %% ## Video [Video]() %% --- ## Recap ![[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/095_20230704 The Pearl of Preparation#^summary]] --- ## Lulu's notes - We start mid-combat with a stand-off between us and the mecha kobold and two other kobolds in the kitchen, with smoke billowing out as the chimney isn't drawing properly thanks to the branches we put on top of it. - The swing doors in-between proves an interesting blocking tactic until Wally uses a table as a battering ram and Reya uses her mage hand to flip the door open. Despite attempts to attack you with a frying pan and kitchen kinfe, the kitchen duty kobolds all end up as sausage meat. We let them explode in the kitchen. - As we move up the corridor into a dank corner of the cavern, we find [[Yinra Emberwind]], the investigator we met at the prison break, locked in a cell. The kobold prison guard immediately raises his crossbow. As Wally tried to persuade him to stand down, Yinra calls out for our help. The guard turns to her with his crossbow to tell her to shut up and Reya deftly stals his quiver of arrows off him. - Turning around again and not inclined to be persuaded, he fires off his one loaded arrow, but the distance is too close and he misses Reya. Thinking better of it, he guides us towards [[Stahlmast 💀]], back towards the iron floored passageway in the south of the cavern. - Suspicious of the iron floor, we force the kobold to run across, which he manages with no problem. Reya follows only to find the iron floor is, in fact, two large trapdoor doors and she drops into a pool containing reef sharks. One just misses snapping at her heels as Wally throws down a rope and, with Promise's help, manages to haul her out in time. - Enraged, Xenia sent a volley of magic missiles at the cackling kobold, who is soon laughing in the afterlife, his body and keys clattering to the ground. The metal doors snap shut again. - With no clear, safe way across, the party heads back northwards and into Stahlmast's workroom, where we discover a desk covered in parchments, inks, charcoal. On investigation we find mad scrawls mixed with engineering designs, sketches of the layout of [[Hupperdook]] and the mountaintop are seen, as well as what looks like the designs for [[explosive seeds]] and a diagram of how the seeds can be surgically implanted into creatures. - Another note details the process by which sharks are to be placed into the waterfall lake in [[Silver Falls Grove]]. One strange design shows what appears to be some kind of clockwork-powered armor. There are also plans to set powerful explosives across the mountainside in a way that would bury most of Hupperdook in a landslide, but leave his lair intact. - Investigating further, we find one of the bookcases is a secret entrance into a plushly furnished bedroom. Xenia's detect magic reveals a smooth stone in the pocket of one the fine sets of clothes in the armoire. - Reya discovers a locked chest hidden beneath the bed and attempts to unlock it. Failing to do so, Wally attempts the same with his newly acquired set of thieves tools and manages to do it, much to Reya's embarrassment. The chest holds 170GP, 65SP, and **two red potions**. It also contains a letter written in Undercommon. - We make our way to up the steps at the exit of the bedroom and into... the [[Clockwork Forge]], where Stahlmast is climbing into his [[Stahlmaster]] construction. Having tried to win you over to work with him to defeat [[the Empire]] and bury Hupperdook under rubble and stop them building war machines to attack the [[Kryn Dynasty]], he starts up the whirring gears and blades of the the Stahlmaster and we roll initiative. ## Sjoerd's notes We dungeon crawl Reya falls in waterpool full of sharks. But Xenia's time change thing (reroll) saves her. ## Andy's notes We started mid-combat with a stand-off between you and the Mecha kobold and two other kobolds in the kitchen with smoke billowing out as the chimney wasn't drawing properly thanks to the branches you put on top of it. The swing doors in-between proved an interesting blocking tactic until Wally used a table as a battering ram and Reya used her mage hand to flip the door open. Despite attempts to attack you with a frying pan and kitchen kinfe, the kitchen duty kobolds all ended up as sausage meat. You let them explode in the kitchen. As you moved up the corridor into a dank corner of the cavern, you found Yinra Emberwind, the investigator you encountered at the prison break, locked in a cell. The kobold prison guard immediately raised his crossbow. As Wally tried to persuade him to stand down, Yinra called out for your help. The guard turned to her with his crossbow to tell her to shut up and Reya deftly stole his quiver of arrows off him. Turning around again and not inclined to be persuaded, he fired off his one loaded arrow, but the distance was too close and he missed Reya. Thinking better of it, he guided you towards Stahlmast, back towards the iron floored passageway in the south of the cavern. Suspicious of the iron floor, you force the kobold to run across, which he managed with no problem. Reya followed only to find the iron floor was in fact two large trapdoor doors and she dropped into a pool containing reef sharks. One just missed snapping at her heels as Wally threw down a rope and, with Promise's help, managed to haul Reya out in time. Enraged, Xenia sent a volley of magic missiles at the cackling kobold who was soon laughing in the afterlife, his body and keys clattering to the ground. The metal doors snapped shut again. With no clear, safe way across, the party headed back northwards and into Stahlmast's workroom where you discovered a desk covered in parchments, inks, charcoal. On investigation you say they were mad scrawls mixed with engineering designs, sketches of the layout of Hupperdook and the mountaintop are seen, as well as what looks like the designs for Explosive Seeds and a diagram of how the seeds can be surgically implanted into creatures. Another note detailed the process by which sharks are to be placed into the waterfall lake in Silver Falls Grove. One strange design shows what appears to be some kind of clockwork-powered armor. There were also plans to set powerful explosives across the mountainside in a way that will bury most of Hupperdook in a landslide, even as it leaves his lair intact. Investigating further, you found one of the bookcases was a secret entrance into a plushly furnished bedroom. Xenia's detect magic revealed a smooth stone in the pocket of one the fine sets of clothes in the armoire (a fancy name for a wardrobe). Reya discovered a locked chest hidden beneath the bed and attempted to unlock it. Failing to do so, Wally attempted with his newly acquired set of thieves tools and managed to unlock it, much to Reya's embarrassment. The chest held 170 gp, 65 sp, and two red potions. It also contained a letter written in Undercommon. You made your way to up the steps at the exit of the bedroom and into... the Clockwork Forge, where Stahlmast was climbing into his Stahlmaster construction. Having tried to win you over to work with him to defeat the Empire and bury Hupperdook under rubble and stop them building war machines to attack the Kryn Dynasty, he started up the whirring gears and blades of the the Stahlmaster and you rolled initiative. And that's where we'll pick up next week!
