While the rest of the party participate in a drinking competition called the Hour of Honour, I sneak out to buy fireworks and a holy symbol of Pelor. The party wins the token, and the tiefling goes to bed with Crownsguard Douche. Reya finds three thieves in her room, and after we fail to convince them to just give up, we have to kill them. Wally is very apologetic but I don't know why, because we were just defending ourselves. ^summary ## Recap of last session ![[018_20210914 Joining the Temporary White Circle#^summary]] --- ## Log This month is Quen'pillar, the 25th. [[Catha]] is waxing (big one). [[Ruidus]] is dark, red brown. It's hard to see. It's about 5:30 pm. In about half an hour, the fireworks begin. ^173ffb [[Wally]] is cursed? He made a deal with a hag. He has to get some item. He'll probably be enslaved to her service. He has to get the item before the sun and moon collide. [[Karmilla Duskbloom|The tiefling]] gave everyone 200 gp but me. The tiefling likes flower crowns. There is a portly human male with a strong German accent. [[Otto von Zauberstab]], has the magpie. He's the proprietor at [[Otto's Magical Ordinance]]. We hear a loud crack. There are fireworks! There is [[Holy symbol seller|a woman]] who has a slow, blinking manner. She is selling symbols. She has incense. Whistles blow, and we see everyone come out and make their way up the long staircases (poorer ones). The richer ones use the winch lift or already live in Upper Hupperdook. [[The Blushing Tankard]] has a large arch with spiraling vines. There are round tables (about 20) and a stage with a piano. It's starting to fill up. [[Irena Clommop]] is there. There's a male gnome there. [[Risania Tinkertop|Rissa]] is there. She is [[Cleff Tinkertop]]'s daughter. Wally wants to talk to her. Surly mop of hair, no eye protectors, a bit soot-covered. Irish accent. They handed off a project to her dad. Risania. Rissa knows [[Nihana Chist|Nihana]] - she was a bit eccentric. She has ideas about fantastical things. He made a prototype. She never came back. That was about six months ago. Maybe a year. Cleff prefers to drink at [[The Sootswallow Lodge]]. "Hour of Glory". We should ask her dad - he would know more. A troop of dancers across the gender spectrum come out, going from table to table, standing on them, throwing scarves around. People are giving them coins. Scura thinks this is all weird. Middle-aged gnome jumps on the table. His name is [[Syd]]. Scottish accent. He declares the start of the Hour of Honour. A dwarf with a snow-blind eye antes up 10 gp. [[Gaffer Sleese Firemark]] says 15 gp. ^3aa061 --- _Scura was not here for this_ [[Reya]]'s turn. A guy with a stripe down his hair comes up - "[[Badger]]". Reya wins two rounds. [[Firemark Furies]] are the name of the group that the Badger is a part of. "[[Oda Los Turen]]", a mousy woman with a jacket and a dress. People say they're "bringing out the big guns" with her. - 1: Wally - 2: Wally - 3: Wally TWC wins! Irena keeps coins down her dress. Irena is totally flirting with Wally. --- symbol of [[Pelor]]. Beer mat (coaster?) - cherry wood with sun in brass. I bought 10 poppers and 10 sparklers. I sneak back and the tiefling is talking to [[Floyd Hemsworth|Floyd]]. Floyd's father is in Zadash. He was hoping we'd go there. Ol' Blemmy has an unkempt beard. Reya grew up in Zadash. Ol' Blemmy used to be an Ice Sailor from [[the Frigid Depths]]. Now he works at the omni-smelter. Ol' Blemmy. He overheard that Nihana owes Cleff money. [[The Collision of the Sun and Moon|Equinox]]? somebody's aunt told Reya that. [[Ol' Blemmy]] says that Crownsguard Douche's father is [[General Aaron Hemsworth]], some high up guy in the Empire. Three male humans. One looks unhealthy. Another has blonde hair and blue eyes, pretty tall and muscular. Sneering. Third has braided auburn hair, like in a weave. "[[Grinner]]" is the sneering guy. Grinner and [[Stoner]] fall asleep (Reya cast Sleep). [[Skinner]] is the unhealthy guy. Grinner is paralyzed. Stoner is the one that Reya has grappled. Grinner's getting away. Xenia has Chronal shift, Shatter. We kill them, but [[Syd]], Irena, Floyd, [[The Crownsguard]]s all come running up to us. Irena persuaded Wally to "have a drink" with her. ## DM's Notes ```ad-info - You went off shopping in Hupperdook and saw the preparations for the evening festivities. Stall owners and flower vendors. Milla bought herself a crown of blue cornflowers (I remembered the name) and was given a white rose. Xenia went off and bought 200 gp of spell scribing materials. - On the way to the Blushing Tankard, you saw a firecracker vendor and bought some, plus a rather more client vendor of religious symbols. - Just as you were finishing up the shopping, the whistles blew across Hupperdook and people started pouring out of workplaces and homes and many headed towards The Blushing Tankard. You were sweptup in the crowd going in, managed to grab one of the last tables thanks to Wally spreading himself and his gear across the seats. - Among the rowdy festivities, you heard the band strike up and an amazing troupe of gnomish dancers who lept up on the tables and sprang from each one, ended in a blur of colour and the percussion from their wooden shoes. The crowd erupted in applause. - Then came the Hour of Honour MC'd by Syd. Despite being faced with Gaffer Sleese Firemark and his Firemark Furies, you managed to hold your drink and win the honour and the all-week-free-drinks token that was your prize, along with the 20 gp ante from the Furies. - Irena Clommop, the owner, took a shine to Wally, while Milla took even more of a shine to Floyd. - Scura headed outside to buy a symbol of Pelor, while inside as the bar was emptying, she found Ol' Blemmy still drinking. In conversation about the astologer, he suggested Cleff Tinkertop would know more about her. - Wally headed out of the noise to get a breath of fresh air and found a game of dice with Errin, the stable girl and Gerrit the kitchen hand (who won). - Deciding to head to bed, Milla went upstairs with Floyd and the rest of you followed shortly after. Reya, just to be safe, set the alarm spell on Milla's door, only to discover three thieves in her own room. - Having challenged them, and sending a couple of them to sleep, a rather chaotic fight ensued in the room and in the corridor. One of the thieves died in the room in a flash of radiant flame. The other two were tied up by Wally, but after all the booze, not well enough. They slipped out of their bonds and ran, only to be grappled, paralysed, guiding bolted and shattered, causing all the glass to break and lamps to go out in the hallway. - Having been rather occupied until this point, Milla had emerged from the room. Soon followed Floyd, who set off Reya's alarm. - Irena and Syd and two other Crownsguard rushed up to see what was going on. The Crownsguard recognised the three thieves, Stoner, Grinner and Skinner, and nobody seemed too bothered by their demise. However the hallway needs some repairs. - Floyd asked his Crownsguard mates to remove the bodies, Wally gave Irene the money from the thieves as compensation for repairs and Irena persuaded him to have a late night tipple with her downstairs. - The rest of you headed to bed and that's where we wrapped up the session! ```
