When we said we were from Hupperdook, he knew who we were and asked for the "delivery". The tiefling gave him a lot of explosives (but not all) and he accepted them, although he said he had been expecting more. > > He wanted to get to know us, and I said I wanted information about a slaver named IJ. He hinted that we might have a shared acquaintance or enemy, but that he needed to trust us more before he could divulge anything. He offered us two jobs. > > The first job was to figure out why the sewers underneath Zadash, which he uses for smuggling, are blocked. He said that the Crownsguard have a job post for it, and that we can do it, but then leave some of the passages unmarked for him to use. In return, he can help us get speedy passage north. > > The second job was more urgent: to take a copy of the little black book that General Hemsworth keeps in his study, and give it to The Gentleman. > > The Gentleman said we didn't have to decide now, but we needed to tell him by the end of the day because he might have to talk to other people if we don't take the jobs. > > We head to The Invulnerable Vagrant, a magic shop, where we met a bovine creature named Pumat Sol and a few other clones of himself, also named Pumat Sol. We bought a lot of stuff and traded in a lot of stuff, then headed to the Library of the Cobalt Soul. ^summary ## Recap of last session ![[036_20220125 Truth or Truth#^summary]] --- ## Log [[The Evening Nip]] is in [[The Outer Steads]], on the cusp of the Outer Steads and [[The Innerstead Sprawl]]. [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Zadash|Zadash]] f the pyramid is where all the wealthy people are. Bottom is where the poorer people are. There is a circular road in the middle. There's an old dwarf in front of us, restocking the bar and putting the tankards and stuff away, getting ready for a big evening, although nobody is around yet. I cast Vigilant Blessing on Wally. "While I have no coin, I'd be willing to offer many gifts." is the password to get into [[The Evening Nip]]. The dwarf leads us through the double doors. We get led to a small liquor room with a chain in one corner. It's some sort of storeroom. The chain looks like it is connected to a pulley mechanism that opens a trap door that is fairly well-hidden but not invisible. Reya says it's not trapped. She pulls on it and reveals a staircase leading downstairs. We hear the clink of glasses, like the bar is being stocked in the morning. There is a candle-lit chandelier. This place is two storeys. Wally goes first. There's a hooded figure drinking alone-- the only one who's really looking ([[Vutha]]). There are two balconies above us, with some people in the shadows above us. There's a large ogre with patchwork armor and a maul resting on the ground. There are a few people conversing quietly. Wally asks me to keep an eye on the shadows above us. They are carrying a long metal rod (initially looks like a crossbow). I've only seen this in Hupperdook, around the [[Gaffer Sleese Firemark|Firemark]] place. Bar runs down the left-side hand. The barwoman is there. She's got blonde hair braided in a crown. Nice-looking human. On a high-backed chair, sitting with teal-colored skin, jet-black hair, widow's peak, dark goatee, blue velvet coat, hands entwined, is [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/The Gentleman]]. He looks sweaty. Black-clothed tabaxi is standing behind him. ([[Cree]]) When we approach The Gentleman, the ogre acts like a bodyguard and stops us. The Gentleman calls him [[Kutha]] and asks him to calm down and let us through. He calls the tabaxi [[Cree]]. He says those part of the Gentleman's troop can be trusted... to a degree. He give us coffee and pastries! The coffee smells amazing! Tiefling pulls out the explosives. Gentleman nods to the hooded figure. The hooded figure is top to bottom dressed in black and wears lots of daggers on the cloak. It's [[Vutha]]. Ohhh, the tiefling says they took explosives from the lair of [[The Stahlmaster]]. When the tiefling talks about the dark elf, the Gentleman looked at Vutha. He (The Gentleman) looks like he's constantly perspiring. I asked him if he's going to use it to fight the drow but he said he wants to profit, not take sides. He says "they" have a new starosta in [[Odessloe]] who is a better ally of sorts-- it's easier for them to bring stuff there. The Gentleman hints that he might have a business rival, and that it might be [[Ionos Jagentoth]]. He may be willing to divulge more information, but wants to "trust us" more. 1st job: Underneath Zadash there are [[The Zadash Sewers|sewers]] that lead to subterranean rivers that are useful for transporting things (like the metal rods). Recently, with the attack of the Kryn in Zadash, something has been obstructing the passage through those sewers. The Crownsguard also have a job post to do it, but he wants us to do it and leave a few of the passages untouched, unmarked, and unknown. In return, he can arrange passage north. 2nd job is more urgent and more discreet. In a certain house in [[The Tri-Spires]], there is a list of words that he wants us to get. He wants a copy of it. He doesn't want us to take it. We need to get back to him by the end of the day. We leave. We want to go to look for diamonds. There are fancy guilds by the Tri-Spires that might be too fancy, but [[The Invulnerable Vagrant]] might have it. We go to [[The Pentamarket]]. There is a green building that has been here for a while with the sign of the invulnerable vagrant. There is a creature outside of the shop that is wearing an ornate outfit. Short, bushy, curly hair. Very tall, like 7 feet tall. Brown fur and a nose that looks like a bull's, with pointy ears that stick out. Bovine face. He is [[The Pumats|Pumat Sol]]. There are other versions of the same Pumat Sol. Pumat Prime is the one that does all the enchantment. - Eversmoking bottle - Wand that makes Wally smile - Potions of healing - Armor - Mithral Chain mail 450 gp - Weapons Wally says the tiefling has rashes... where? I buy Augury sticks that are inlaid with gems.
