# [[056_20220719 From vampires to death butterflies]] ## Session Summary > [!tldr] [[039_20220215 Blood is thicker than coffee]] > We left the Library of the Cobalt Soul and witnessed three Crownsguard attempting to deal with a large, hairy spider leg. They weren't that nice, and they said we should go and get a writ if we wanted to actually help. > > We went back to The Evening Nip to tell the Gentleman that we wanted to take the first job (the sewers job). He told us that he wanted us to leave some tunnels unmarked, but asked us for our blood before he told us more. Unfortunately, the rest of the party did not like the coffee enough to accept, so instead, we risked his ire and then went and sniped the job from the Task Board outside King's Hall for less money, no drinks or pastries, and the surly countenance of the Lawbearer and Crownsguard that clearly didn't think that much of us. > > The lovely people we are now working for then hurried us into the sewers, which we began to explore. A halfling ([[Barlow]]) and [[Elven Crownsguard colleague of Barlow|an elf]] are looking into the sewer grate. They stop me from casting Light and trying to help them. They say that if we want to help, we should accept the writ at [[The Lawbearer Voloshin]]'s. I give the tiefling the Potion of Healing that I bought. Xenia goes back into the library. We go back to [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/The Gentleman]]. [[Clive]] is the name of the older dwarven man in [[The Evening Nip]]. He recognizes us. We see an older gnome that packs stuff away in a bag when we see [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/The Gentleman]], and he walks out. The [[The Crownsguard]] are marking an X on every passageway that has been cleared. The Gentleman wants us to mark some of the unmarked passages to keep them under the noses of the Crownsguard. He will pay us 1000 gp, but 250 gp up front. He wants us to give us some blood so that he can trust us. Reya and Wally don't like that, so we don't take the job after all. We walk to [[The King's Hall]]. We see a group of protestors holding up banners calling for peace with the Dynasty. There are some ringleaders who look a bit beefy. The Crownsguard try to not-so-gently corrall them with the butts of their spears. It's about 6pm by the time we get to the King's Hall. It's a 20-foot tall single-storey building with long windows every 15 feet. There are about 10 Crownsguard here. We see the task board. It says to take job enquiries to [[The Lawbearer Voloshin|Lawbearer Voloshin]]. Male dwarf comes out. He is dressed in long robes of gold and white and carries the symbol of the Lawbearer. The sewers. 75 gp per person. Carmilla Duskbloom Reya Xenia Palebender Clear the section by [[The Pentamarket]]. Every time you clear a tunnel, put an X. No one is to go in the tunnels again after they're cleared. We can get chalk from one of the guards. [[The Tri-Spires]] is about half a kilometer away from us, to the north. There are some guards that are not very nice. [[Batteridge]] is the captain in charge of the sewer cleanup. He treats us disparagingly. We go down into the sewers. I cast Eyes of Night on everyone. It lasts an hour. Misses once, gets a crit on the second. 26 piercing damage - Attacks Xenia once. 10 damage and grappled and must make a Constitution saving throw - Wally: Hits with a longsword and smites! 13 damage and it is frightened. - Milla: 2nd level Chromatic Orb, 16 acid damage - Round 2 - Xenia: False Life - Reya: 27 damage - Me - Action: Aura of Vitality - Bonus: Heal Wally - Spider - Drains a 3rd level slot from Xenia and casts Lightning Bolt, wtf!!! Does 16 damage on fail, 8 on success - Reya's booming blade triggers and Wally's opportunity attack does too - Wally: Hits with the second attack (with a 16) - Milla: Mind Spike. It gets advantage on saving throws.
