# [[040_20220301 A Debt to Pelor]] ## Session Summary > [!abstract] [[040_20220301 A Debt to Pelor]] > Reya killed the spider, and we saved the Crownsguard. His name is Aaron and he is a cleric of Pelor. We delivered him safely to his colleagues, and continued to explore the sewers. We fought off a jelly-like creature easily, but then came face to face with a fatberg, a creature of solidified fat that had lodged itself into the sewers. > > The fatberg engulfed me, but let me go to grapple Reya. > > Unable to see Reya, we couldn't help or heal her, and many of us took damage as we found out the hard way that fire damaged the fatberg, but its violent reaction to it also damaged us. Despite that, Xenia manically set it on fire again, knowingly triggering the explosives inside its body, next to Reya. The explosion knocked Xenia himself unconscious, killed the fatberg, but also killed Reya in the process. Wally healed Xenia, but I ignored him and went straight for Reya. > > Distraught, I ran after the Crownsguard, but the cleric guard, Aaron, had already left. We took Reya's broken body to the barracks, where we were told to go to the Shrine of the Dawn, the temple to Pelor. We asked for aid from the priests there, and I convinced them to let me stay with Reya while they raised her from the dead. > > Exhausted but relieved, we took Reya back to The Crossed Pikes. ^summary ## Recap of last session ![[039_20220215 Blood is thicker than coffee#^summary]] --- ## Log - Reya kills [[The Arcane Drainer Spider]]. We talk to the Crownsguard. He is a cleric of Pelor. He is [[Aaron Drunch]]. There was only one of those spiders, but there has been a lot of weird goings-on. Aaron came with someone named Barlow. That's the halfling Crownsguard. We bring Aaron back to the surface, to [[Barlow]]. "May the rays of the Dawnfather be with you." We see greenish drops of some liquid on its mandibles. ![[exandya-arcane-drainer-spider.png]] We turn the corner and there is a yellowish goo. - 9 Scura - 15 Milla - 25 Xenia - 12 Wally - 9 Reya - Jelly Thing - Round 1 - Xenia: Crit on a Fire Bolt, 17 damage - Milla: 14 damage with a Chromatic Orb - Wally: Longsword: 3 and 11 - The Jelly splits into two! - Reya: 19 piercing damage, 5 thunder (booming blade and rapier) - Me - Look in the other direction - Action: Toll the Dead. 16 necrotic damage. I killed it! Wally finds 1g6s and flicks the gold to Reya. We keep going and I figure out why the sewers are blocking up. It's a [[Fatberg]]. - Round 1 - Reya: Shortbow: 13 hits, 5 piercing. Piercing doesn't do as much as she would have thought. - Milla: Gives the explosives to Wally - Fatberg: attacks me for 9 damage, intercepted by Wally, grappled. (actually was a 20 but Xenia helped me out) - Wally: tried to help me escape - Me - Action: Escape, but it doesn't work - Bonus: Healing Word on myself, 2nd level - Round 2 - Reya: rapier and booming blade, 20 damage - Milla: Falls on her tail while attempting to attack the fatberg. - Thing: dex saving throw, engulfed Reya (boom!) and Reya can't breathe - Me: - Action: Disengage, move away - Bonus: Healing word - Round 3 - Reya couldn't escape - Milla did Chromatic Orb and did 25 acid damage - Thing: Attacks Reya, and Reya goes unconscious - Xenia: Fire Bolt - Reaction: Volatile Oils, 25-foot cone of fire, and even a 17 fails! 20 fire damage. THANK FUCK THE KEG DIDN'T BLOW - Wally - - Me - Action: Command: Release - Round 4 - Reya: Failed death save - Milla: - Me - Action: Toll the Dead Xenia sets the fatberg on fire knowing it will kill Reya. It does, and Xenia goes unconscious as well. We get the Crownsguard to help us bring Reya's body to [[The Shrine of the Dawn]] (temple of Pelor). Someone there calls for [[Yether]], a 50+ year old cleric. [[Neris]] is another cleric. They say that they can try it, but we need to be in debt for 800 gp. It's to the temple and to Pelor. They do it, and Reya comes back to life, weak. Yether is a little suspicious of me, but I lie and say that I am a cleric of Pelor. Still, I am truthful when I thank him (and Pelor), and he chalks it up to me being from a different region. We go to [[The Crossed Pikes]] around 7:30 and we take a long rest there. Oh. My.
