# [[041_20220308 Cleaning up good for the heist]] ## Session Summary > [!abstract] [[041_20220308 Cleaning up good for the heist]] > We went back to The Crossed Pikes, where we realized we stank, so we turned and headed to a bathhouse called Steam's Respite. We all take a shower and get our clothes washed. > We chance upon Crownsguard Douche on our way back to the Crossed Pikes. He said we're not really in the good books with the Crownsguard because of how we left the sewers. Wally suggested we help him by protecting Floyd's mother at the party tomorrow, in exchange for Floyd sticking up for us. Floyd said we could come a bit earlier (at 5:30 pm) so that he could introduce us to his mother and let her know we're going to be protecting her. > > We took a long rest at the Crossed Pikes. The next day, we went clothes shopping. Some of us got fancy clothes and fancy haircuts. Wally seemed to particularly know how we _should_ look and also how to look like we belonged. > > Wally and Scura bought meat. We all ate at The Pentamarket. ^summary ## Recap of last session ![[040_20220301 A Debt to Pelor#^summary]] --- ## Log We walk into [[The Crossed Pikes]]. We STINK. Everyone looks at us and is grossed out. [[Marius Almar]] says we stink. [[Steam's Respite]] is the closest bathhouse, and it should be open. It is a bit north of [[The King's Hall]]. It's not in the fancy part of town; it's in the business part of town. It's about 20 minute walk from the Crossed Pikes. It has a sign, dark-stained wooden slats. It smells pleasant. At the reception desk, there is a half-orc lady with braids pinned back on the sides. Common chamber: less private Private rooms + washing of clothing. 6s Back entrance, front entrance. Someone named [[Elena]] shows us each to our baths. %% While everyone was bathing, I enacted this plan, which I told Andy about: >[!note] Note to DM >I'm thinking about sneaking off to talk to [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/The Gentleman]] when everyone else is asleep. > >I'd like to do it secretly, not at the table. I am going to offer to get him a copy of the book or list. I'll give him my blood. In exchange I'd like something to help me protect the party. I was thinking something like [https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/periapt-of-wound-closure](https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/periapt-of-wound-closure "https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/periapt-of-wound-closure") > >Hmmm, I guess I would try to be as truthful as possible and say that my friends are very hesitant to make commitments, but I feel more comfortable in relationships within rules, as long as they're clearly spelled out. I'd be willing to give my blood and would consent to a Zone of Truth (if he knows someone who could cast it, since I don't have it prepared) and willingly fail it so that he doesn't doubt my sincerity. > >The sewer job isn't done. We still have the writ and are expected to return to clear it out and mark the tunnels. The explosion was definitely not my idea or my doing, and it (nearly) killed one of us in the process. If he finds he can trust me after I give my blood, I'll listen to what he might still need done on that front. > >I can make sure that he gets a copy of the book/list from the study, and I don't have need for money. I can make sure the rest of the party does it with me, but I need to be able to protect them better, and I'm clearly failing at doing that on my own. > >I also get the feeling that we have a common enemy. I have personal reasons for dismantling the slavery operation or striking back in some way against the "IJ" slaver(s), so I'm willing to help on that front later on as well. He's not happy that we blew it up and there are many Crownsguard He's hostile, recpetive but not friendly. It's too late to call of the other party since he got others to do the job. If I'm willing to take it on, he wants my blood. He will consider the protection thing afterwards. If I come across the other party and tell them we're with The Gentleman's troupe, that may mean they won't kill us. He grabs a coaster and signs it. A G that I can show to prove that I come from The Gentleman. I give him (Cree) my blood. It's not yet known what form the documents are. We will need a key and a cipher. Both of those are in the possession of Lady Hemsworth. It may be worth checking out her dog. I could try to make a copy but that could be difficult if there is some arcane nature to the documents. If I steal it and I'm caught, make sure it doesn't implicate him. %% [[Miss Reema]] at reception asks us to pay. I borrow 5s from Wally. I cast Vigilant Blessing on Reya. We see [[Floyd Hemsworth]] while we're walking to the Crossed Pikes. He says we blew a hole in the ground and made a mess of the sewers. The other [[The Crownsguard]] is [[Baterich Krevnar]]. He is younger than Floyd, about 19 or 20. He checks everyone he passes, checking to see if they're all ok. [[The Lawbearer Voloshin|The Lawmaster]] isn't terribly pleased. Crownsguard are cleaning up the sewers, which was actually our job -- so they're not happy about that either. It was due to [[Lady Floella Volcain Hemsworth|Floyd's mother]] that the sewers needed to be cleared with such haste. There's tensions with the [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Kryn Dynasty|Dynasty]] and who knows what might happen if a lot of important people are there in one place. Floyd is very close to his mother, even if he's not close to his father. Wally suggests Floyd pay us to guard his mother. Floyd says it can't be official. There will be lots of Crownsguard as well. It's a Bachelor's Auction for the war effort. He says he'll tell his mother that we're there for security, but we can't say to others that we are security. We can just be minor guests. It starts at 6 pm. We can go there at 5:30pm. He says he'll try to let other guards know. She has a maid, a butler, catering staff. [[Mr. Whitebristle]] is the head of the household staff. Can't miss him. Two teams: - Team Book: Grab book - Reya - Scura - Xenia - Team Security: protect [[Lady Floella Volcain Hemsworth|Lady Floella Hemsworth]] - Tiefling - Wally [[Kalani]] won a fight in the fighting pit. LONG REST. Reya doesn't want these three names on the list or book: - Reya - [[Winza Winterson]] - [[Reya]] She also doesn't want The Gentleman to have it. Reya takes us all shopping for clothes at [[Fabric Armory]]. 1 gp for fancier-than-I-need shoes. They are deeply uncomfortable. Wally knows exactly how to dress up, weave, color, cut of fabric. We see that [[The Zadash Sewers]] have caved in where we exploded the fatberg. We go to [[Little Off the Top]], a barber place where Xenia and Wally get a haircut from [[Oliver]]. Xenia gets his hair died dark. Wally's haircut is metrosexual. Reya gets her blond hair dyed ginger-orange. Xenia looks like this: ![[midbald-fade-textured-brushed-back-hair.webp]] [[Porky's Cleaver]] in [[The Pentamarket]]. Portly, big guy. Gives me dog meat. 3 sp. Goulash. ^a383c9 We eat at The Pentamarket. %% Prepare: - 1st - Bless - Command - Cure Wounds - Healing Word - 2nd - Aid - Silence - Enhance Ability - 3rd - Revivify - Sending %%
