# [[055_20220712 The other tiefling]] ## Session Summary > [!tldr] [[055_20220712 The other tiefling]] > We killed off the remaining Carrion Crawlers and Reya found the body of Gaun. I cast *Speak with dead* and we learned that he found a path, which he'd drawn a map of, that "the Jagentoth man" had killed him, and that he thinks there were artifacts at Blighted Hollow or Caes Mosor. Wally jumped back into the pit and found the map in Gaun's lost shoe that seemed to lead from Shadycreek Run to Molaesmyr. > > We went back to The Landlocked Lady and Kheelan came to drop off an invitation from Ophelia Mardoon to go to her estate. After everyone had bathed, I asked Reya to study the seal on the invitation and the handwriting inside, just in case. Then we went ot the Estate Sybaritic, where we were asked to surrender all our weapons. > > We finally met Ophelia Mardoon, who was really intimidating and freaking hot. She seemed to know The Gentleman quite well. She said she had two jobs: one that was urgent and immediate, and another that was more subtle. For the first one, she asked us to find her 19-year-old niece, who was missing. Ophelia suspected that she'd been taken by the Jagentoths in the Savalirwood. For this, she promised to give us 1000 gp if we found the niece alive, or 350 gp for proof of her death. > > For the second one, she asked that we think about whether or not we can dispose of the Jagentoths, but in a way that wouldn't be traced back to her. > > We accepted the first job (initially), and she asked us to break bread with her to seal the deal. ^summary %% <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/AXtFOqGNIbE" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> %% --- ## Recap ![[054_20220628 Many gifts in Shadycreek Run#^summary]] --- ## Log My Chemical Romance - Helena Carrion Crawlers 1 & 3 are damaged; 2 is not. It's cold here in [[Shadycreek Run]], and bodies don't rot the way they should - something to do with the corruption in the earth here. That's why they have to have [[The Pits]]. - Round 4 - Carrion Crawlers - 1 attacks Wally, but misses - 3 goes for Reya, but misses - Me - Try to look for the body, but it didn't work - Healing Word on Pin - Wally - Hits the CC - Xenia - Round 5 - Me - Move for better sight - Action to perceive, and I just barely see a half-orc body at the foot of the carrion crawler - Bonus: Healing word It's [[Harka]], not Haka! Pin gets out of the pit. Reya finds the body of [[Gaun Shalfer|a half-orc]]. His body has been slashed open by three parallel slash marks, like a creature has slashed him. He's missing a leg that has already been eaten by a carrion crawler. Everything else on his body has been picked clean. Harka thanks us for ridding him of the carrion crawlers and says that when we die, he'll make sure our bodies aren't defiled. - [x] What was your message to Pin? - I found the path into [[Molaesmyr]], through the [[Blighted Hollow]] and the [[Strangled Spring]] - [x] How do we get to the passageway to Caes Mosor? - Wind past the blooming grove and then follow my map - [x] How did you die? - Jagentoth man on the quiet path. - [x] Where was the last palce you saw your map? - A shoe - [x] If you found any artifacts, where are they? - He thinks they are at [[Blighted Hollow]] or [[Caes Mosor]]. He hadn't found any yet. Wally climbs back down and finds [[Gaun Shalfer|Gaun]]'s other shoe, and a map inside it. ![[twc-gauns-map.png]] It's about 6 pm and it's starting to get dark. Vigilant Blessing on Wally. We freaking stink. A different guy at the reception desk. he has a Shakespeare like goatee, balding. [[Champ]] (Champion) - though his name is actually Charlie. [[Kheelan Went]] invites us to go to [[Ophelia Mardoon]] in an hour. She expects honesty and loyalty, prefers to negotiate than to swing an axe. As much honesty as you can muster. She is perhaps the most powerful lady of the most powerful tribe. We need to go to the gatehouse and we will be escorted. We will be asked to leave our weapons before we go. Eagle's Splendor on me and Wally for an hour. Advantage on Charisma checks for an hour. We go to the [[Estate Sybaritic]]. We're actually walking into the Savalirwood. It's a bit spooky. I ask Reya to examine the seal and the handwriting from the letter so that she can attempt a forgery later if needed. Guards check it, but we are let through. There are 2 guards with crossbows, though they're not currently trained at us. I see at least another four, and then 2 that have tubes of metal. This is a super secure place. There's a red carpet staircases, a grand entrance to this place. Dark gray-skinned tiefling, smooth, straight ankle length hair, large horns, yellow pupilless eyes, large canines. Very shapely. She's super graceful. She has a kidnapping of her own to deal with. She has two needs: - Urgent and immediate. She needs to find her niece. She is 19 and disappeared on her way home. Her hunters have not returned. Ophelia suspects the Jagentoths. She wants us to find her... alive. Or evidence of her death if we can't do that. - Subtle, must be handled with discretion She confirms that IJ the slaver is [[Ionos Jagentoth]]. He has also broken an agreement with Mardoons about territories. [[The Quannah Breach]] is not the only entrance to the Empire - there are other ways. The subtle need: The Jagentoths have been a thorn in her side for far too long. Extermination and destruction. She knows who [[Cree]] is and her blood sample. 700 gp for all five of us, 350 gp if we bring back evidence of her death. She warns us that Ionos Jagentoth regularly sends teams into Molaesmyr. He has a penchant for exotic beasts that he's taken from the corrupted forest. ![[twc-ophelia-mardoon.png]] Wally talks her up to 1000 if she is alive, but still just 350 gp if she is dead. She says time is of the essence.
