Milla killed the butterflies off wtih her cold magic. > > We kept going north, and saw some black puddles that Ophelia Mardoon had warned us about. Wally just barely resisted getting sucked into one. We eventually came across a clearing that could only be The Strangled Spring. > > In The Strangled Spring, we saw a single rivulet of water going into a central circular container of water inside other concentric circles. I saw shapes on the far side, so Reya and I went off to try to scout ahead... and failed pretty miserably, triggering a battle with some Fungal Zombies that erupted from the nearby water. There are encrustations of butterflies around it! Initiative! - Round 1 - Milla casts Chromatic Orb at the butterflies, 2nd level, then goes right back in - Reya tries to use a scimitar but fails - Pin actually damages the butterflies?! 6+7 damage - Scura: melee it is! - Wally: The dashboard wiper maneuver - Xenia: Shocking grasp Milla kills the butterflies off, exploiting the fact that they are vulnerable to cold. The notebook was talking about consecration, not consecution. Xenia finds a torn corner of the weapon tucked elsewhere in the book. It's a war hammer with a hook on the back. It has a multifaceted shaft. `Vestige` and `Odeos`. [[Find the vestige]] Wally made a deal with a hag: take a ring from three hags, or be cursed. The other guy who was cursed was turned into a tree. The three hags are further north. We have to look for the coven and the ring. The hag said we could take everything else, but the ring was hers. She also said `Don't hurt Granny.` The notebook is singed and burned. Nothing else is magical from the stash from the explorers. *Aid* on the there squishies. *Vigilant Blessing* on Wally. Wally touches the water and it seems oily - like there is an oily film on top of the water. Everything is purple - it's heading into twilight but as we continue, the light it purple. We start to see patches of black puddles. [[Ophelia Mardoon]] had told us that her hunters had seen them. Wally puts his hand on it and has to wrench his hand free as something grabs him! He pulls back but he's gotten his hand really sticky. We feel like someone's watching us. I use *Eyes of Night*, we come to a clearing. There si a rivulet that disappears into muddy black soil. On the opposite side of the water from us, I see a rough shape of a humanoid? 14 Stealth for me and 11 for Reya and I'm invisible. Uses her shard and becomes a beacon of light! - Reya: Protection from Evil and Good. - Scura: Twilight Sanctuary - Pin: Step of the Wind, quarterstaff - Xenia: Fire damage - Zombies - Attack Pin, 9 damage and he's poisoned. Attempt a Slam attack - Vomit attack, Wally and Reya have to make CON saves. 15 is saved. Wally failes and takes 9 damage and is poisoned. - Slam attack on Wally misses. - 2 Vine Things come up! Attack Xenia. Xenia takes 8 damage and saves from poisoned. - 1 Vine Thing attacks Milla, but is blinded. Grapples her! 26 to hit. She saves from poison. - Round 2 - Milla: *Misty Step*s out of the grapple and casts *Ray of Frost* - Reya: Disengages to save Xenia, casts *Booming Blade*. Hits for 19 piercing damage and 2 thunder damage. - Scura: Bless on Wally, Reya, and Pin - Wally: Attacks and hits, even at disadvantage. 9 slashing. It seems to recover a little.
