We made our way to the second level, where we found the golden dragon Aygonath. > > Aygonath told us that he *can* destroy Grovelthrash, but was effectively held hostage by the fact that Desirat and her followers have his eggs, the last golden dragons in Exandria. He suggested that we: 1. Travel to the Monastery of the Shadow Sorcereress to retrieve The Soulfire Sacrifice, a sword that can both free Desirat and destroy her. The followers of Asmodeus are resurrecting an archmage called Vespin Chloras to get to this blade, but we must get it first because they intend to use it to free Desirat. 2. Travel to Vuthos and retrieve his golden eggs so that he can destroy Grovelthrash. And 3. Being alone, in the dark, separated from family and friends. We go through the door. We're on [[Dragon Isle]]! We're on the summit of something. There's a pool on the plateau we're on. We see [[Pearl of the Beach]] puttering around, picking up shells. On top of us, we see a floating island! The water is streaming down from the island above us, 500 feet. The pool is whirling around and it seems like there's a spot of light at the bottom. It's about 15-20 feet across. Pearl tells us to climb. One at a time, two at a time. Mind the slime. Apparently we're on a smaller floating island, a fragment. We see other fragments. We are about 500 feet above the sea. I can just about see that the plughole we saw is responsible for the squalls the ships come across. ![[twc-dragon-isle.png]] Ground level is a mixture of stone work. Web of geometric shapes, cut off on the edge of the island. Some buildings that are intact. Others are fallen. Gardens are weirdly manicured. There's a lake feeding the waterfall. Pavilions on one side of the lake. Glowing golden light from some of the pavilions. Lake is 70 feet across, 100 feet long. At the end is another plateau where another small waterfall ends. 1km diameter bite out of the photo. - 17 Wally - 12 Scura (lizard) - 4 Xenia - Lulu - 3 x Giant bats 16 HP Xenia knows some flying cities: [[Aeor]], [[Avalir]] (with a sister city called [[Cathmoira]]), [[Kethes]] (primarily dragonborn city whose survivors built Draconia), [[Lakras]] (Aeor considered attacking it to test a weapon), [[Zemnies]] (home of mageocracy of Zaidel, where Zemnians are descended from, which crashed into Central Wildemount.) ^23a7e0 There's a lot of treasure everywhere that we can see. EVerything's giving off a golden glow. HUGE [[Aygonath|golden dragon]] peeks out. Enormous! Slithers out of a cave gracefully. Slides into the lake, displacing water. 80 feet long, 150 foot wingspan. Huge eyes. Movements are deliberate. We give him the scale. He says he's missed it for many hundreds of years. When he dropped the scale, he and [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Yussa Errenis|Yussa]] very nearly killed each other in battle. Only at the last minute did they recognize each other. We asked him to destroy Grovelthrash. [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Desirat|Desirat]] took the last remaining two eggs, and that's why Aygonath is trapped on [[Dragon Isle]]. Aygonath can't craft anymore. They haven't yet breathed the full life into them. We need to retrieve the eggs first and then they could destroy Grovelthrash, but they are with her. We tell them about [[The Crimson Order]] and [[The Ninth Revelation]]. Desirat was bound under [[Mount Mentiri]] in the subterranean [[The Fire Giants|fire giant]] city of [[Vuthos]]. Her heat powers their smithies. Their smithies can create greater, more potent weapons. In return, she remains there. In her strange warped mind, Desirat believes she has become a god. But she's not immortal. There's one possibility to defeat her and recover what is Aygonath's, and release him from the conundrum so that he can destroy Grovelthrash. He feels the eggs from this distance. We must retrieve the sword ([[The Soulfire Sacrifice]]) that once belonged to [[The Soulfire Phoenix]] when she was in her humanoid form. The Blood Moon -- this [[Ruidus]] -- is no ordinary moon. [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Asmodeus|The Lord of the Nine Hells]] is trapped there, aching to be released. The Soulfire Sacrifice once belonged to the Phoenix, but it was taken through the death of [[Vespin Chloras]]. The mages of [[The Crimson Order]] will want to release it because with the blade and his power, they will release Desirat and finally Asmodeus. We shouldn't use the Soulfire Sacrifice for ourselves. It's so powerful that we may be tempted. We haven't faced our shadows - the greed and cowardice. ^276bab The gem that Xenia has belongs in the hilt of the Soulfire Sacrifice. We must journey to [[The Monastery of the Shadow Sorceress]] in [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/The Shadowfell|The Shadowfell]]. There are only two nights when it's on this plane, when the blood moon shines tomorrow. Journey there and find the blade before Vespin is resurrected. But we'll face our fears before entering that place. But we can leave Grovelthrash with him here. It will be safe. If he destroys Grovelthrash now, there will never be any gold dragons in Exandria again. He thinks the eggs are safe in lava. Desirat must be destroyed before she's released. We can use the sword to defeat her and exact revenge for the death of the Soulfire. He's not sure if the eggs are with the Fire Giants or with Desirat.
